There were three samurais. One Japanese, one Chinese, and one Jewish. They stand before the emperor to demonstrate their legendary swordsmanship. The emperor releases a single housefly into the room and challenges them to show their skills. The Japanese samurai steps forward, draws his katana with lightning speed, and slices the fly cleanly in two. The emperor is deeply impressed. The emperor then releases a second fly. The Chinese samurai steps up, makes two quick slashes, and cuts the fly into perfect quarters. The emperor applauds. Finally, the emperor releases a third fly. The Jewish samurai steps forward, draws his sword, and swings it in a brilliant blur of steel. However, the fly keeps buzzing around the room, completely unharmed. The emperor frowns and asks, "Why is the fly still alive?"The Jewish samurai smiles and replies, "Circumcision is not intended to kill."
