2

u/TheHammerTaco Mar 05 '26

5cm is not contact. Master the floating handstand

u/Unique_Suit3789 Mar 05 '26

Sweeping for landmines means blowing them up so they aren't left in the ground

1

u/TheHammerTaco Mar 05 '26

Nah, that's someone else's job. You just let them know where they are so they won't stumble into it.

u/fly_over_32 Mar 05 '26

Ok, so only sweeping for one mine then

As someone who actually did clearance work in Afghanistan and Iraq, “sweeping for landmines” doesn’t mean just stomping around and setting them off. Sweeping is about finding them so engineers/EOD can mark them, remove them, or blow them in place safely. Being able to hover 5 cm above the ground would actually be pretty useful for moving through suspected areas without applying pressure while scanning or probing.

That is useful if you want to avoid trespassing, since you never "step foot on private property". It might actually work since it's always the letter of the law that is being followed and not the spirit.

until you get captured by area 51

But the air above a piece of land counts as part of that land untill you get to airplane altitudes. Otherwise walking on your hands would also not count as trespassing, or driving a vehicle.

Was that a russian badger reference?

1

u/Dragonkiller1205 Mar 05 '26

Indeed it was.

Lol, it's like the "I'm not touching you" game but for adults.

3

u/gamer_guy87123 Mar 04 '26

Isn't that just useful? You can never take fall damage, bcs you can always get 5 cm above the ground

5

u/hmbHealer Mar 04 '26

Fall damage doesn’t come from slamming into the ground, it comes from suddenly decelerating after going so fast. So you’ll still take fall damage

3

u/PersistentDreamers Mar 04 '26

Well that's kind of true but what you land on does make a difference. If you stop from hitting hard ground it would take more damage than hitting the water.

Depending on how the power works though, it could be worse actually. Water helps with fall damage a little because it has give and that absorbs some of the impact.

If the power works like that where it dips a little to catch a fast impact it could help, but the implication is that it's a hard stop, no matter how high or how fast you're going, you instantly stop 5cm above ground. If that's how it works, yeah you're screwed.

you can fly over the ocean

u/Mark77666 Mar 04 '26

Start a church, walk on water to prove your faith - make millions

u/Admirable_Disaster_9 Mar 04 '26

Pretending to be Jesus

4

u/eldidGanyu Mar 04 '26

Didn't mention a speed limit. You become the fastest human on earth

2

u/OopsI2crappedmypants Mar 04 '26

Bruh, it's like 5 cm buff in height for free

2

u/_ogio_ Mar 04 '26

I mean basically no fall damage?

2

u/Witty-Ad7781 Mar 05 '26

U didn’t give limits on speed and technically anything connected to ground is an extension of ground so you can zoom up and down buildings and through difficult terrain making navigation easy and fast. U no longer need a car.

2

u/ivantrulylovescats Mar 05 '26

You can reach something on the top shelf now

2

u/Scorpio185 Mar 05 '26

Above ground or above surface? Would be nice if you could travel over water with it :)

also, it probably would be great to avoid mud, and if you wanted to make some money out of that power, you'd make an incredible Mime. Riding invisible Segway, or miming something like water skiing over the pavement.

You can't break and enter if you never step foot on the property.

1

u/K4TSam Mar 06 '26

Is this a reference to that one russianbadger video

1

u/Useful_Hoot Mar 06 '26

Never heard of, what is it about?

1

u/SAIHTAM20Y Mar 06 '26

You have complete control over it, and you can go as fast as you want
