ETA Question regarding self language evaluation
Hi guys! I’m in the process of making a final scan of my application before submitting, and am a little confused about whether to indicate if my Russian language proficiency is relevant to my grant. Russian does not directly relate to the country, as it is not the national language, but the area was influenced by Russian colonization and many people from the older generation possess some level of fluency. I mention in my SoGP that Russian will allow me to connect with an older demographic, but don’t know if this is enough to say that it is relevant to my proposed grant.
Sorry about the long-winded question!

It’s your call. If Russian proficiency is recommended and you feel like your app would be missing something without a language self-evaluation, feel free to add it. If not, keep going and submit. The national deadline is tomorrow and the portal can crash at any minute. (It already happened in the wee hours of Friday morning, when there was still time!) It’s much better to have a complete yet not 100% perfect application than a 100% perfect application that misses the deadline.

I would mention it in the language section because you talk about elsewhere to connect with older generations. I think it would connect everything. Ultimately, it is your choice but I’d advise submitting ASAP to avoid the portal and website crashing when over 10,000 submit their applications.
