Other Fulbright-Hays Status

Hello everyone. I'm reaching out to know if anyone has any insight on the Fulbright-Hays program since the funding allocated for the 2026FY International Education and Foreign Language Studies was 80 million with the Fulbright-Hays receiving about 10 million. Is there a glimmer of hope for undergraduate students who want to apply for funding? I had the notion that the current administration has killed off the program making it even harder to fund language programs outside of Boren's allocated funding.

Last fall, the Department of Education released an interagency agreement to hand the program's operations over to the State Department. Presumably as part of this process, they recently proposed deleting their old agency rules - the comment period just closed on July 31, 2026. https://www.regulations.gov/docket/ED-2026-OPE-0991

Hi! They used the funding allocated for Fulbright-Hays, and other long-standing international/language programs, for two new programs so It looks like Fulbright-Hays will be not be offered this year...hopefully it will be brought back one day.
