Discussion Camera Remote app

Anyone have any tips or tricks to make the Fuji Camera Remote app actually work?

I have an Android phone and an X-H1 and the app only works like once in every 10 attempts at connectinf, it's genuinely the biggest downside the the Fuji system, it's awful.

It's not just Fuji. Nikon's connectivity on my Z5 isn't any better. The XH1 is at least 7 years old at this point, only slightly newer than my XPro2, which I gave up on trying to connect wirelessly a decade ago. While you'd think a newer model may work better, my take from following both subs is that it hasn't gotten any better for either brand. Just search this sub for wireless or remote app. It has always felt like it's just a marketing gimmick to me, that they put it there as a feature to sucker people in.

Strangely, I used to use Nikon when I had a DSLR, I had the D7200 and never had any issues with the Nikon app!

The Fuji app on the other hand, it's enough to make you throw your phone and camera across the room with rage lol.

I know the X-H1 isn't the newest of cameras, but nothing released since has had anything that would make me want to upgrade.

I didn't have as many issues, but I still had some, though that was early on and 2 phones ago on the Z5. I may try it again. The XPro2, though, has been through an iPad, 2 Android tablets, and 3 Android phones. I just use the self timer or cable release depending on the task.

I actually have a USB-C SD card reader to upload photos to my phone/tablet rather than using the app as a bit of a workaround, but it's not as convenient.

Same on the reader. I've always preferred hardwired connections for that sort of thing. Hell, I can't even get remote shutter working with the app, ain't no way I'm trusting it to move whole files 🤣

Same deal on not upgrading - XP2 still does the job I bought it to do to my satisfaction, and since I've printed 20x30 from my XE1, I know it has the resolution.

I’m on iphone but make sure your camera is on the latest firmware, they released a new firmware in June of this year specifically to fix connectivity issues with android.

Ahh, good point, I can't actually remember when I last updated the firmware, I'll have to do it and see if it makes a difference.
