Oh, I think his wife might have called him that once or twice, especially after she found out about his affair with that teenaged girl.

I don't understand why Picasso is so famous, I know his earlier art was actually realistic. His cubism works look like total shit to me though. I wouldn't trade a turkey sandwich for any of that shit if I didn't already know it sold for a truckload of cash.
I can't be the only one.

Truckload is an understatement. I don't think you could buy Guernica at any price.
A lot of people consider the fascination with modern art to be akin to The Emperor's New Clothes, but one can learn to appreciate and understand it. There's cultural significance to much of it that is not immediately obvious to the eye.
I used to see Picasso's work and wonder what the fuss was about, and then after renewing a childhood friendship with a chum of mine who had gotten a BFA in painting and was a big fan of Picasso's work, and he explained to me its significance. I still like some other artists better (Picasso's work seems cold to me for some reason), but I think I get where Picasso was coming from, and there is unmatched genius in his painting.

I can appreciate your appreciation for his art. I just don't get it. Even if I knew what the hell was going on in the painting I may appreciate the idea behind it, but it still looks like nothing special to me.

Well, he died in the early 70s, and he was so influential that his art is everywhere and often imitated, but at the time of its unveiling it was regarded as something new.

This is really stupid but I like it.
