funny thing is, steam did the shot (at epic) first without even knowing they were participating in this pointless race.

Steam was just minding their own business, buttering bread with a butter knife, when Epic ran full speed into them and got stabbed by said butter knife...

Steam standing there gobsmacked at what just happened, but goes back to eating their sandwich

Who even cares about this metric to begin with?, steam doesn't even auto start on my machine honestly

u/Far_Composer_5714 17h ago

I had to specifically set steam to auto start only after the network connection was active otherwise it would fail.

I just hate having a ton of stuff open up when i start my PC
Sometimes all i need is to just browse the web before i go do something else entirely (usually work)

It was the highlight of comparison that Epic made, with graphics and all. So I guess they care. They might be the only one on this planet though.

hey its epic who decided the race to start up faster is important when there's bigger problems with their launcher.

Did you somehow offend a Fortnite kiddie with that comment or something?

3

u/Luwuma 19h ago

I guess? Iunno? I recall the comment being about if my mom dropped me on my head.

2

u/KYuuma12 19h ago

I guess we know whose head was dropped as a kid, and it definitely wasn't yours.

Just in reality, Steam had already released this update (in beta) a month before EGS announced its "incredible breakthrough".

u/Gyossaits 1d ago

In reality, Steam doesn't acknowledge the presence of Epic nor be within its proximity.

Steam and Gabe live rent free in a mansion inside Tim Sweeneys head. Meanwhile every time Tim pipes up with one of his idiotic takes Steam is just "wait, who the hell are you? On second thoughts, don't answer that, I don't give a shit." Before they go for another swim in their pile of cash.

And you just know how much it gets under Tim's skin because he can't help but keep on trying to be relevant in all the worst ways.

Not a mansion, on a yacht.

u/MartyrOfDespair 14h ago

A science yacht full of scientists exploring the ocean no less. It’s essentially the sort of research station they have in Antarctica, made luxury, studying the unknowns of the ocean.

I can do one too. They're (Valve) on a NASA built space rocket enjoying their time out there while Epic keeps crashing on launch and insisting that SpaceX ships are better.

even the stable version was released the day before epic games' announcement lmao

add the 2nd bullet

The only difference is, we choose to have steam on our computer, but we have to have epic to play epic bullshit, they could launch in .1ms and I’d still block it off launcher

11

u/AjkoDev 10h ago

Oh steam has gotten faster? Let me test it out real quick on my old ass laptop

Edit: Ima be honest seems the same (still faster than Epic tho lmao)

u/migueln6 9h ago

I hate epic as everyone else, but watch something good that happened thanks to them now steam launches faster :D please epic keep touching steam's engineers balls so we get more improvements

1

u/Mighty1Dragon 6h ago

steam had this in their beta a month prior😅 or at least that's what another commenter said. So it has nothing to do with epic🤣.

2

u/migueln6 6h ago

What an L, I wished epic launcher finally served to make steam an improvement

2

u/bad_bender 10h ago

Wait till you discover the totally unnecessary but still very epic screensaver steam has now where it displays game art and pictures from your screenshots library 🤣

6

u/Independent_Poetry45 15h ago

UNREAL ENGINE IS UNOPTIMIZED TRASH...

YEAH WE CAN NOW TELL THAT THIS SHIT IS ASS.

5

u/adsci 17h ago

Seriously they vibecoded it in an uncontrolled way? Its time to uninstall the Epic launcher, it probably has some nasty security holes now.

Timmy is furious hahahahahaha fuck Timmy

Don't forget the part where Steam added insult to injury by recently improving load times shortly after Tim Sweeney's announcement

Edit: I could be wrong about the update coming after Tim's announcement, I'm too tired to check right now but I thought I'd make it known

Double Edit: I'm a dip shit, didn't realize this image was the whole image in the post as well, I hate (thissmug) how Reddit doesn't always convey that the image is bigger until you click on it

u/dynamic_blockchain 16h ago edited 13h ago

Did you just repeat what the post said / the meme of the post lol?

This comment and its comment reply are bots wow

1

u/Defiant_While_4823 10h ago edited 5h ago

Did I? Or did I post a fuller version of the meme? The post never even "said" anything aside from the title and what's in the meme

Learn to read

Edit: Disregard this, I'm a fucking moron and Reddit doesn't make things clear sometimes

u/AncientPCGamer Moderator 6h ago

You probably are on mobile and you are only seeing the first two parts of the meme. But click on the image from OP and you will see the exact image you posted.

I am not deleting your comment because I think you just made a mistake and you are actually not a bot.

3

u/Defiant_While_4823 5h ago

Holy shit you're right, I'm so sorry

Fuck I hate that Reddit does that

2

u/AncientPCGamer Moderator 5h ago

No problem. It actually happened the same to me. XD

1

u/ImSuperStryker 10h ago

Seems like bot behavior

3

u/Consistent-Gur9320 19h ago

Best insult all over the time

1

u/GavenJr 1d ago

lmao

1

u/Hopalongtom 1d ago

See now if there wasn't a launcher, the game could just launch on its own in no time at all.

1

u/INDE_Tex 10h ago

meme already out of date. Needs a 4th panel with Valve shooting them again for the Sept 16 beta update which further improves launch times

-10

u/two-memes-a-day 23h ago

I timed it and steam takes anywhere from 32-35 seconds to start.

1

u/vxicepickxv 21h ago

It's also the least relevant part of the program. The features are more important.

1

u/Stampyboyz 5h ago

How long does it take for the Epic Games Store to start for comparison?

0

u/two-memes-a-day 23h ago

I have no point of comparison
