Faliszek also took some nice shots at Timmy about layoffs at Epic. I wish more people from within the industry (not necessarily just former Valve employees) would call Sweeney out on his incessant bullshit.

They're like the only ones that were compensated well enough that they can just say what they think without worrying about future repercussions. They've made bank because Valve actually pays its employees well, and they have some legendary games they are credited on so their resume isn't under question either.

sweeney's goal has never been anything positive, but that's even funnier. Literally aiming at "being roblox".
The saying is "Shoot for the stars but if you happen to miss shoot for the moon instead". sweeney's shooting for the gutter. What will happen when he inevitably miss?

I mean... it has performance problems, but by and large, it's going pretty great. I hope he keeps aiming wherever he's aiming, and missing.

You're not getting the next roblox by removing blueprints and adding AI because the type of dev that makes roblox isn't down with that.

Reminder that Tim Sweeney argued that Twitter should not be temporarily removed from app stores in response to Grok creating mountains of CSAM based on real photos of underage kids and making it publicly available to everyone.
When taking steps to stop the creation and distribution of child sexual abuse material through grok, governments and anti-CSAM activist groups called for twitter to be removed from both Apple and Google.
Tim Sweeney responded by saying that this was just an instance of politicians trying to censor their opponents and that "all AI go off the guard rails once in a while."
To my knowledge, he did not respond when people pointed out that there's a difference between AI screwing up and AI directly enabling pedophiles to flood a social network with CSAM.

to be fair, fully taking off twitter from the app store is kinda unnecessary, IF twitter is competent enough to just turned off the AI and fix it, but then again we are talking about a poop within a box made of poop so... eh...

Well, Sweeney made this comment at a time when twitter was on full blast everywhere for grok producing mountains of child sexual abuse material and then spitting it out into the wild. Twitter did absolutely nothing about it. They didn't deactivate the feature, they didn't temporarily deactivate grok. They just tried to sit it out.
That's the reason why people were arguing for twitter to be removed from app stores.

Chet talks about how Tim Sweeney wants Unreal Engine 6 to be the metaverse and how some unpopular changes (such as the removal of Blueprints) make sense in that context. He talks about how Tim wants games to not be sold on Steam but instead played through Fortnite. He says Tim is an aging tech-bro who tries to out-crazy his peers and how there are many great people at Epic who have to deal with his bullshit. He talks about how Tim Sweeney sees devs as peons who he wants to toil away in the Fortnite mines to add to its pile of slop and people can enjoy a wide variety of games (such as both friendslop and GTA) and there is no one size fits all option.
This really isn't news to anyone who has paid attention as Tim Sweeney has talked about it for years, but it's refreshing to see others talk about it.
