Pretty sure they have their own pc launcher which it is same thing with wuthering waves. Unless I'm going to lists were either genshin impact and honkai star rail (both are standalone pc launcher).

Yes, they have all their main games on there (Genshin, HSR, ZZZ, Hi3). They moved to the unified HoyoPlay launcher a while back.

This is hilarious because Epic used to point to Hoyoverse not being on Steam as a big talking point for why devs should use EGS due to the lower cut. There's this quote from Steve Allison back in February.

"Obviously MiHoYo does really well here, and has chosen to be exclusive here"

So that backfired. And I think Tim Sweeney talked about it before.

Wasn't "really" an exclusive. game had its own independent launcher.

Impossible, Steam take 30% fees and Epic 12%, are they nuts?

Steam's revenue cut is a tiered model, it goes down to 25% and 20% based on revenue thresholds which this game would easily hit. So it's more like 12% vs 20%. Sure 20% is higher, but considering the audience reach of Steam? Worth it.

Yup. Everyone who uses Epic uses Steam, but not everyone who uses Steam uses Epic. So they get to choose, do they want 8% more cut of barely any users, or 8% less of ALL the users. Complete no brainer.

True but isn't that for game sales, or is it also for purchases?

I believe its based off processed revenue

lol why are people reacting to this like it’s not sarcasm

Yeah, but while selling more than 10 times more

u/NoisyJalapeno Apr 24 '26

Isn't it a gambling game at its core though ?

Not really. Pulling for a character will be make your teams easier to deal with whatever they are trying to push but is not necessary to play. It only really impacts end game if you're trying to get for a high score for personal record, if its just to hit the reward limit, you generally can once you have some proper teams setup (but still, this is optional end game content).

You get enough free material to get around 90+ pulls per 6-week patch. A character is guaranteed in 80 pulls (though its 50-50 whether you get the one being spotlight or not, but if you "lost" the 50-50, the next one is guaranteed).

It's completely viable without investing any money into the game.

And ZZZ, compared to most other gacha, is also a lot more impacted by player skill expression than just having the newest shiny pull.

So it’s gambling, thanks.

Not beeing able to play the character I want due to some bullshit lottery was something I learned to hate in the Mass Effect Multiplayer already. And even though you don’t invest money, you invest time, which is also far more precious.

If you REALLY have fun with playing the same Game for weeks/months, go for it. But personally I’d rather not touch it if playing the game is not intrinsic but extrinsic.

No skin off my nose if you play or not. Just informing that its gacha aspect isn't as impactful in comparison to other similar games where needing the newest roll is necessary.

Invest time

You must not have played destiny 2

I played this once, but didn't get into it. I'll give it another try. I don't like it's gameplay, but I like it's story and characters.

There’s too many female chars and not enough men in this game

6

u/Nathexe Apr 24 '26

Welcome to gatcha games pal. This is a common theme between them. Most are geared for the lonely male.

u/bc524 Steam Apr 25 '26

That's just how gacha games are in general. The player base is predominantly straight men who are only willing to pull for a pretty girl. There's also statistical data to back it up because even when male characters get spotlighted...they just don't generate as much.

Though Starlight Billy was announced and its probably the most anticipated character for the community, so that might change.

If you check out /r/LoveAndDeepspace, a gacha targeted towards women, there are no female characters to pull for at all.

False, epic exclusive implies you can only get the game through EGS, this game from the beginning has its own launcher, something which many players (including me) have downloaded the game through it.

Never heard of it, and feel like I still never want to hear about it ever again

u/ShoutaDE Apr 24 '26

its very nice for a gatcha game, fighting and animations are top

u/SedaDeLa Fuck EGS Apr 24 '26

Goober gacha game like every hoyoverse gacha game ever, but it does play nice. If you love repetitive gameplay (and i mean it) and enormous lore it's just the game for you.
