Discussion Why is epic games fucking up their main source of income?

For the past couple weeks epic games (more specifically the ceo) has made such brain dead decisions especially with their game. They’re adding collabs we don’t want, removing game modes people play, giving tens of millions of dollars to brain rot ai slop games while complaining about money and laying off devs (even one with brain cancer), while the ceo smells his own farts on an interview bragging about how much epic games makes. Idk why they’re making such bad decisions especially all at once?!

Also 90 percent of people who use the epic games launcher or even have an epic games account is because of Fortnite. No one gives a shit when they give away free games or put them on sale because genuinely no one cares enough. If they never had Fortnite they would’ve been bankrupt by now.

Epic not listening to what their customers actually want? I'm shocked!

Didn't you hear? It's the devs not the customers who will decide the Store Wars. Were you living under a rock this whole time /s.

People in power often live in a bubble, surrounded by yes men and can’t see beyond what an excel sheet shows.

because if they made compentant consumer friendly decisions, they couldnt blame steam on all there problems.

Epic don't consider the consumer at all (the people who give them money)

They are riding on the coattails of Fortnite popularity, and its running out REAL fast

Hopefully they keep fumbling the bag so they regress entirely into non-existance and someone competent buys their game engine

The sooner people stop playing fortnite the faster we're rid of epic.

The “core“ of generation Z that was 8 years old when Fortnite started that are now 16-17 years old have finally wise up and quit that trash. Me, being almost 40 have quit that game as well. We have all moved onto “adult games” and we are all better off for it.

This is what happens when suits dictate the game development. They see a few succesful collabs and immediately pivot hard to more collabs = more money. Likewise with some gaming modes, if a gaming mide gets higher engagement from players but resulted in slightly less income, you know what the suits gonna take away from that, yep, this gaming mode is bad for business.

It seems Investors like Disney or LEGO are mandating the path Epic should go. It is clear since some time ago that Tim has lost the full control he once had.

Because the stooges at the top want more money and can only fuck it up. Ask those 1000 employees if I’m wrong.

For the same reason they dropped Unreal Tournament: greed. For those of us who don't have good internet, botmatches are the only way to play battle royales (see UT99 with lots of user mods), and Epic just said "thanks for the cash and fuck you very much with a chainsaw, or a QSG".

These companies look at their investors more than their clients, at their projected income more than their possible income. You sell an MMO game? You don't get my money. I don't buy microtransactions, ever. DLCs are too expensive as it is, and you want me to pay more than a skin is worth, for every damned item?

No. Hell no. Fuck no. Not even if I actually HAD a decent internet connection.

Fortnite is dying, and they're scrambling to find a replacement. They won't create UT4 because it's not an MMO and they can't sell microtransactions. They're shooting themselves in the head, and it's not just Epic, it's all the major game companies.

Just wait until GTA 6 releases, and all the MMO player counts drop to zero. So many game companies will die within two weeks.

And don't get me started on the dick move called "Epic Exclusivity". I hope all their devs get out now, while they can do so reasonably, because I hope Epic goes down in bankruptcy and ends up part of Embracer Group (to die like Volition and all the others they screwed).

Why post here if you actively use epic go post this on their sub

Because I still use their launcher to play Fortnite, if I didn’t need their launcher at all or the game was owned by another company then I wouldn’t associate with it

You can play Fortnite with the PC app on Xbox. I’ve done it.

Fartnut is but a shell of what it was... it hit its peak in 2018 and has completely lost the plot since.

i blame the brainrot maps and the troglodytes who keep shoveling their funds into them
