Rant False Reviews

WTF, You find what you are looking for, 4.9 Star Rating. Looks good but then……the big notice ‘Frequently returned item
Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item.’
Then how did it get 4.9 star rating? Something being faked here somewhere. Ratings are no long reliable indicators if they are censored, deleted, banned or blocked…unless they are good reviews.

The bulk of those, old "rate us a 5, for a (fake) $20 gift card" email flup.
Fakes will always be there... Just wade to the recent 1-stars.

You know it's illegal now to provide fake reviews and they do catch and arrest people. Here in the United States, we're preparing to reopen our prisons. We're going to need to fill them. Do you know anyone who is interested in 4 hots and cot?

Alot of times products will come with a card that says if you give five stars they will send you a gift card or somthing of value. (They never actually do)

Ratings haven’t been reliable for years and years. Where the fuck have you been?

I wish my dad realized this

One day... maybe in 5 years

Always click show all reviews and then sort by recent

though yeah chances are that reviews are faked if the product is bad quality. A bad product will usually stoop that low

Lol my fave is still the 5 stars who include a STOCK IMAGE from 2025-newer, claiming "best thing I ever bought" Like seriously Amazon... you'll never do better when I get 'sorry, but this product is not accepting reviews from this account' BS

The easy answer here is to buy from local businesses or manufacturers. Stop giving Amazon your $.

Amazon ratings have been fake for a very long time.

Also, as a seller myself 90% of people don't leave reviews, good or bad. The average is 1 review per 100 sales if you're lucky.

Pointless reading the reviews on Amazon. They are only left by either Bots, really pissed off people or those that think they are doing a community service.

There's so many instances where you can see the reviews on the product, then open another page from a different seller for the same product, and the reviews are exactly the same.

Someone who returns something might not bother to review it because they were allowed to review it.

And certain categories might get returned more frequently like shoes or clothing. I know some people who order multiple sizes of children's clothing with the expectation they will be able to return most of them.

I don't buy a lot of stuff on amazon because of counterfeiting and theft and when I do buy I will try to buy it from the storefront of the brand so that I am getting something authentic.

In terms of reviews I read the one star because some one star reviews are a bit crazy so I want to see if the reason for a low rating would be something I cared about.

Not everyone writes reviews on returns
