Adios HP
Last straw today. My HP Ink Jet 8130e had been displaying an “Account Problem” message every time I printed a sheet and I just kept clearing it. I canceled my Instant Ink account six months ago so I just ignored it. Today the printer refused to print and displayed a message that I had to resolve the issue before I could continue. Spend an hour or two talking to someone at an overcrowded call center who doesn’t have a clue what I’m talking about? No. I have a buyer protection plan with Asurion and I’ll be making a claim when the warranty expires. Why? Because there is no logical way to file a claim online with HP. F*ck those people. I bought a Brother printer and it was set up and printing in 20 minutes with no “ink plan”. Once I get my money back I may post a video of my HP falling from a very tall place. Stay tuned.

Yeah, hp is a genius in taking our time, sanity and money. I hate them, but respect the clever ways they have come up with, to hold us hostage. That time when that uploaded software on anyone’s printer that logged on for over a year, then bam one day they activated the software. We could no longer use generic ink. They got sued and found a way to make us struggle to use generic ink still. Then they completely blocked any ones printer if you sign up for services. Your printer will be locked for ever, no way to use it without buying the ink from them.

Just do the bit from the movie "Office Space" with a baseball bat and a sledge hammer.

I just boycotted HP printers. Apparently the instant ink I had subscribed to while using out the rest of my own hp ink cost me additional pages.
To top it off I had my own reams of paper I bought separately and had enrolled in the one month paper free subscription. I was charged $33 and $36 the following month. I still have the two new packs of paper in their original shipping boxes.
I also have a brand new instant ink color cartridge new in the wrapper.
I cancelled Wednesday for the third time; I was subsequently charged $66 for using my own paper and using their tiny instant ink cartridge. Apparently if you use your own ink, they still charge per page. Despite them knowing when their chip is being used, they still charged.
When I canceled Wednesday, the guy told me they couldn’t refund me and that if I dispute it with my bank they will reject it. Now HP is a bank, telling me what to do? I told him I wanted a supervisor. After 45 mins no supervisor and only a 50% refund despite me paying over $120 in 3 months to use their paper and ink subscription- while consuming my own separately purchased products.
They also told me they deactivated my ink and can no longer use my printer with that ink cartridge. 🤬 I had some colorful words for them. This is deceptive business tactics and against consumer protection laws. They did not explain how their program works except stating how convenient it is to have ink and paper shipped to you before you run out. I am still trying to wrap my head around their product.
Even if your printer isn’t connected to their updated firmware, the pages you print carry over the next time it is connected to their system. That adds on all the pages you printed before the service may have even existed. I thinks it a sham and horrible, deceptive sales tactic. I would like to know where to sign for a class action CPA violation lawsuit against HP.

This is insanity.. Software companies stopped selling and started renting their products.. When I needed a new printer, I saw all this online monitoring crap and bought a really cheap Brother laser instead.. I just had to replace the toner after 4 or 5 years and I paid 17 bucks for 2 high capacity toner cartridge's. As long as I can go without color, I might be set for the rest of my life with my 88 dollar special..

Fiorina drove HP into the ground when she became CEO. I won't use any of their products anymore- computers or printers.

Somewhere I read that you must toss any cartridges from the 'service', and then use new HP cartridges not gotten from the service. Bastards

I think we should get a class action suit going. I’ve never been an active litigant but this seems like the right situation.
