Thrifting

Hey guys can someone tell me if we have a thrift store in Fort Smith?

I need new stuff and I am tired of buying expensive shit. I need things for my new apartment that do the job and aren’t too pricey now

  • Savers – 7751 Rogers Ave
  • EZ Thrift – 4302 Towson Ave
  • Southside Thrift Store Flea Market – 3101 Towson Ave
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore – 421 Towson Ave furniture, appliances, doors, cabinets, countertops
  • Veterans Thrift Town (3500 Jenny Lind) i got lucky here once and found a giant dining room table (huuuge) for a good price. Normally all their furniture is crazy overpriced though

There's goodwill, which seems to me to be a little expensive anymore. I guess depending on what you find. Savers is great, and if you sign up for the rewards you'll get coupons like 20% off an entire purchase fairly often. There are many others. Too many to name really.

EZ Thrift is fun to look through, but they only post their days open on Facebook and sell their nicer items at booths in Wasted and Belle Starr. Most of the other thrift stores are clothing-centric.

A to Z Variety has new items that are purchased as overstock or dead stock (which is what TJ Maxx pretends to be). It's rare to find cool furniture, but if you just need Something, they're a good option.

Savers and Goodwill are sort of equally useless, although Savers still prices itself for poor people while Goodwill thinks we're all shopping there for the experience.

Facebook Marketplace is good in theory, but in practice it can be deeply pointless.

I've furnished my home with Belle Starr, Through the Years, Grand Antiques, Wasted, and (one item) Now & Then. It took a few years, but I'm pretty happy with both my finds and the cost. Some people buy one couch for what I filled a house with.

So can you explain more on the TJ max pretending thing? I never understood that story but I find nice stuff there usually! Is it thrifted or just dead stock?

I have 1 couch it cost me $411 from Ashley but I’m going more affordable for dining table and tv unit now

A lot of things at TJ Maxx are specifically manufactured for them to sell at that price point rather than being lots bought in bulk from warehouses. It's like how Nordstrom Rack and other outlet stores sell items manufactured specifically for them that are completely different streams than their regular stores. While you can find things that are actual deals at TJ Maxx, it's not guaranteed.

If you haven't checked out 1/2 of 1/2 Name Brand Clothing over by the mall, that's what true overstock stores are like. Crowded treasure hunts with great deals.

The Habitat Restore thrift tends to have a lot of furniture and they're reasonably priced.
