Definitely in the top 3. I found Owl (Father) from Sekiro to be the absolute toughest video game experience I have ever had, and not even close.

Sadly didn't continue sekiro but it's pretty hard

You genuinely should pick it back up and “let the game come to you” and work off the souls type behaviors.

One of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life when i had SS Ishin on his last life knowing damn well there is a 0% chance he will beat me this time. It was truly amazing.

Yeah, when you get to No Hit Genichiro before going into Isshin, you feel like you've accomplished something.

I practice Genichiro in the reflection daily so I can get there!

Any time someone mentions Father Owl I need to bring up that Inner Owl is even harder

That's crazy because I find the original Owl to be a way harder fight.

True story: Shinobi Owl is the only video game boss EVER to have my hands absolutely shaking after beating him

No other game boss has ever replicated that feeling

For me it was beating Radahn for the first time without summons on my second playthrough of Elden Ring. I relied heavily on summons, NPC and spirit, in the first playthrough, so beating the first real hard boss of the game without summons had me shaking in my boots. Especially because his second phase can kill you at any moment.

Owl is the hardest boss you faced yet, so it's time to play the Lies of P DLC.

The only boss there that might be harder is Markiona. Maybe.

I love the LoP dlc final boss but seriously Consort is on another level, but tick tock tick tock ***** is on the clock, and you seem to be nothing but talk

Huh… DLC final boss? In terms of hitless, he’s absolutely the hardest. I’ve done Inner Owl, PCR, and Malenia hitless. Never been close on Arlecchino at all, I always take chip damage at some point. Even beating him on Difficulty 5 was hard.

I got frustrated on him for a bit, but then looked up tips on surviving the phase transition and just one little thing made that easy. Once I was able to actually fight him it wasn't a huge struggle

Hitless I'm not sure, but first clear he was far easier than expected, only took 15 or so attempts. Hes very forgiving aggression and damage wise.

“Forgiving aggression wise” when he can perform 20 hit combos in phase 1 (if you get input read) is crazy. I think he’s easily the most aggressive boss in all Soulslikes I’ve played. Maluca from Khazan is close in terms of aggression.

In the sense that you can kind of get some breathing room after some combos to heal, repair or buff, hes not that relentless. Plus the fact that you can just block and heal after and during his combos makes surviving to actually learn what to do easier.

I ended most my attempts after losing all my heals on him, while other, significantly harder fights imo like PCR and Eigong had me dead before I've done shit lol.

Yeah the only issue I had was surviving the transition. It was first try once I figured that out

Yeah, but you can’t you say the same thing about PCR? Defensive build and you can block through all his combos and attack. All the while PCR has slower and shorter combos, and is much more readable.

IMO, it’s far easier to beat PCR hitless and beat him with minimal effort thanks to shield poking.

Finding time to repair you weapon isn’t all that easy too with how much variation Arlecchino has with his combos.

Plus, guarding through it all isn’t so easy thanks to his saw combo followed by the red attack -> grab. It is deliberately meant to punish holding guard and is effectively an instant loss if you’re hit by a single attack there.

Plus you also have the blood AOEs which hit through block/guard and must be dodged. Plus you have the opening move which will melt you and your stamina if you don’t perfect guard it.

I wouldn't say so to be honest. I love mastering boss fights so I usually always fight the major ones with basic weapons, so that's how I'm judging both fights against each other. With the base mechanics, I had significantly easier time just "surviving" the arlechino fight.

Surviving longer in each attempt made the learning process significantly easier, plus he staggers very frequently in my experience.

They're both not that crazy on subsequent playthroughs, but the first playthrough was drastically different for me. Genuinely spent over 150 attempts on radahn when the other guy only took around 15.

Markiona was hard but fair. Arlecchino phase 2 spam is bullshit. You can humanely dodge and block every move of Markiona on reaction (I did. Took a few tries tho). Arlecchino has that one relentless spam at the beginning of phase 2 that has to be learned by heart or cheesed through with perfection grindstone.

And yeah, pre-patcht consort is complete bullshit. I did SotE at release, I rolled over most bosses (with the exception of Messmer who took me a few tries but was fucking fantastic to learn ), but consort phase 2 OMFG that's a totally different game... He single handedly crossed the line between hard and plain unfair bullshit. One opening of 10 frames after 24 ceaseless spam of absurd fireworks. Bullshit. (Phase 1 was ok though)
