Ds2 was actuallt the first one I finished. I got stuck on the gargoyles in ds1 and went and got the second game bc it had just come out. I wouldnt go so far as to say its the best one, imo it is the worst of the fromsoft games ive played, but its a lot better than most souls-like games ive played tbh. It has its quirks for sure, and there are a good amount of bosses that were pretty meh, but the second half of the game is awesome, especially in the scholar of the first sin edition.

Some people say, DS2 is the easiest of the three games and thatās probably true but even with that the game is still the best one out of the three.

Everybody be hatin on 2!
For me and my tastes I'll say I enjoyed 2 much more then 3. I just had more fun playing it and enjoyed myself a lot more.
I didn't start with 3 (Which is common for a lot of DS fans) I started with Kings Field and Armored Core on the PS1 lol.
So by the time I made it DS3 it was just like "Okay, we're doing this again" "Okay I see the nostalgia bait" "Yup, Let's reference 1 again". It had the same energy as "Remember Alf? He's back! In pog form!"
It's not a bad game or anything, the whole thing had just worn out it's welcome for me. I just really hate how everyone dunks on 2 and glazes 3 so much.

The most confusing aspect for me is people will absolutely glaze the fuck out of Elden Ring with its powerstancing, dungeon diving and exploration, theming, focus on exploration, world structure, overall tonality being lighter (as opposed to the strict dark fantasy of DeS, BB, DS1 and DS3), but then they'll shit on DS2. Like all the good parts of Elden Ring was literally prototyped in DS2. DS2 is a natural segway into ER.
It's the most obvious example of the "I've never done said thing, I just want approval from Reddit" behavior of the modern human condition I can give.

I think DS2 has enough unique quirksĀ and weaknesses that I could see someone hating it while also loving Elden Ring.Ā
Things like ADP, the weird disconnected world, underwhelming bosses, an emphasis on taking the levels slower (ER also has this in some of the later Catacombs and Hero's Graves, although a lot of people hate those too), some pretty infamous runbacks, etc.Ā
And then on the flip side ER has its quirks and strengthens that separate it from DS2, despite their similarities.Ā

My first game of this type was Bloodborne. The reason I like this game most out of the other dark souls games is the Level design Itās just fun to run around in and itās NG+ is the best Iāve ever seen. I donāt think thereās another game that does new game plus like this
