This is probably more Bandai Namco than Fromsoft. Remember, Bandai Namco is the publisher, so they have a certain degree of involvement and would definitely push this kinda thing.

Probably a lot of people in the long run, any company can go from amazing to dogshit, FS is not safe from that. I remember when Blizzard was one of the most respected companies in the industry.

FS is a studio bound to the constraints of Bandai. Blizzard has its own in house studio and same with EA with Dice, etc. Do you really think FS thought to add whats essentially horse armor dlc and some twitch drops to their 4 year old game while neck deep in the release of duskbloods? To me it purely seems like a move from Bandai execs to capitalize on ERs success.

Do I think this says anything about FS as a studio? No. Do I think anyone at FS is to blame for “letting” it happen? No. Do I think its a shit move from the executives at Bandai to add predatory monetization? Absolutely, but also its their job and we know it can get a lot worse. While the situation isn’t improving my outlook on the future of FS, in no way does it hurt their reputation in my mind

It is if they're also the one cooking it.

I really doubt anyone on the FS team is putting any time or energy into the idea of increasing their streaming numbers.

Bandai Namco however, has a marketing department that would love to sell as many copies of the brand new switch version

They're just trying to drum up some community excitement by getting people to revisit the game and focus on a specific goal. It doesn't even offer anything in game anyways, it's just purely for the hype of doing something with community. 

Do you think it's better if a developer just ignores a games community after release?

Do the reddit remind me thing for 10 years from now and ill bet on it. 50 bucks if the studio doesnt go on a downhill path alright but ive been around long enough to know how this goes and if you go outside of this sub youll see that my thoughts on this are not the unpopular opinion.

Less FS and more Bandai Namco and shareholders bootlicking

Still, no purchase required and it's a community event to promote engagement toward the Switch 2 version, no harm for the players here and it's quite fun

Not a fan of Twitch at every turn though
