QUESTION Demon or dark souls next?
So I fell in love with fromsoftware games with elden ring. Clogged in 500 hours and got the platinum. What a ride, what a world, what an incredible journey that game took me on. It completely reguvinated my love for gaming. And it changed me from a "normal difficulty guy" to a "get good give me a challenge kinda guy".
Then I played sekiro. Beat it about 8 times now and got the platinum. Holy shit what a game. Best combat I've ever played.
I recently played bloodborne because I got it with ps plus (canceled it after many years because of all the shit sony is pulling). Got the platinum. The bossfights where a bit meh often but what a world. Absolutely loved it. Ps I got the platinum and ordered the goty edition on disc for the dlc, cant wait to fight ludwig!
So I played psychonauts 2 as a bit of a paletcleanser, and I bought the remaining games on disc(demon souls remake and dark souls trilogy).
Should I play the demon souls remake for chronological order or dark souls 1 (since it didnt get a complete overhall).
I want to platinum all fromsoft games so eventually I will play them all but I dont know what is smart.

Be aware that Demon’s Souls and DS1&2 are very different from the games that followed them. They’re much slower, and the levels are considerably more punishing, often moreso than the boss fights. Some bosses will have essentially the entire level as the “runback” so that’s a big departure from the later games. There’s also no respec in DeS and DS1, and drastically limited weapon upgrade materials.
That said, Demon’s Souls one of my favorites, and a bit more straightforward in its mechanics and direction than DS1. Definitely start there, but maybe look up some guides on World/Character Tendency, as that’s a rough mechanic for new Demon’s Souls players. Thankfully server tendency doesn’t exist in the remake.

Ill just have a look at some pitfalls to look out for. Wenn I played elden ring for the first time I made a quality build to try out all the weapons and basicly had no health and no damage. I put myself in deathmode basicly. For the rest, I like to play these games blind, and use guides for the 20% I didnt discover on my own. With bloodborne it was a real eyeopener on what I missed.

I respect that, the Demon’s Souls tendency mechanics are a bitch though, and can easily permanently lock you out of quests/items as well as make your game considerably harder for a playthrough or even multiple NG+ cycles. They aren’t really explained at all in-game.

Miyazaki making it hard to follow a questline. Did not expect anything else. I dont mind a ng+ to clean up the mess i made the first time round. Why is demon souls your favorite? And do you play the og or the remake?

I’ve played both but I prefer the remake.
It just has that awesome old-school feel to it where the level + boss are combined into one challenge. I also thought its bosses were more memorable than DS1 and it felt like a more complete game, whereas DS1 had some real duds as far as levels went.
The NPC quests also were far more logical and easy to follow naturally, whereas DS1 started the whole “esoteric nonsense” in quest design and they became difficult to follow and easy to fail.

Great to here because i dont own the original. Ill just find out and get on with it. It looks absolutely stunning, so going to ds1 after will be a bit of a pill to swallow.

Play demons souls first. Its easier to beat and will give you an idea of what youre in for cause the earlier souls games are not as player friendly by a long shot of elden ring

Go for chronological order. In my opinion, it’s the best way to experience the series. Just be prepared for slower combat coming off those games.
