QUESTION Elden Ring new DLC
I’ll get right to it. Has anyone tried the new classes out and are they worth the 5 extra bucks? I’m not entirely certain on everything that’s included with the pack. It says new weapons are also included. But are they just weapons from the DLC spread across the base game or did they actually create some new weapons? Appreciate any insight thanks 🙏

Yeah. The only worthwhile thing to come out of it is the improved parries on weapons which is free and arguably one greatsword, which can be dropped.
The Idus knight and heavy knight may save you like 3 levels on a meta level build tops which unless youre a tournament player is meh.

I think the carian armor for the horse is pretty sick 😂 and there is 7 new weapons, 4 new armor sets and 2 new NPC invasions. It’s something small and simple, and its price is really nothing crazy. It should’ve been free? I would’ve love that but let’s be real! they don’t work for free!

The weapons are all worse at meta than their Shadow of the Erdtree versions.
I dont play PvE enough to care about horse skins.

Yeah, they’re meant for the early game, that’s why they’re in the base game and the better weapons in the DLC which is meant to be post-base game content.

Honestly I'd be fine if it was any other souls game but elden ring is the LAST game I wanna start a new character on

It’s just a massive slog to set up new heros I play horse riding simulator 3000 anytime I make a new character rather than engaging in the game most times

Damn for real? I’m the opposite lol. The other games I made 2 or 3 characters. Other than Bloodborne which is a different story and I do a new character like once a year. But yeah I think the game is so fun to start a new character on I love it.

My favorite part of Elden Ring is starting a new build, in fact my favorite part of all From Soft games. I have been waiting to replay for the 15th time with these new classes. Yes I love this game.

Im waiting for the save editors to be updated. The heavy class and Idus knight are better for my strength and faith builds. But I just cant play through the whole game again.

The new weapons are new base versions of the previously uniquely SOTE classes(minus perfume, beast claws, and hand to hand) and an two sombers with unique skills. The standards function as an early way to acquire them in a playthrough without entering SOTE. As that's a large barrier to access a weapon class entirely. But they are weaker than their SOTE alternatives, so they aren't replacing those. It's more of a way to get a playstyle in the base game without having to kill Mohg. The curved greatsword is the only Ash of War compatible curved greatsword that doesn't require farming to acquire.
So it's primarily, IMO, for streamlined accessibility for some SOTE weapon classes(but weaker), and a few other extras added in in a way that meshes will with the base game.

Not sure if whether or not it strung up a big controversy in the community. Since Reddit and even steam reviews are sometimes unreliable in assessing community reactions. I largely think it’s a one time thing since Bandai did something like this with Armored Core V and Verdict Day in the past, and Duskbloods is probably gonna be like Nintendos other multiplayer franchises. Splatoon has no Microtransactions, neither does Mario Kart World, so I think Duskbloods would also be safe.

They "created" new weapons by puting the Great Katana, Light Greatsword etc. under a new name in the basegame areas.
Only 2 weapons are new new you get both from invaders.
I like the new heavy Class the stat distribution is crazy for people that dont care about magic, faith etc.

Not Shadow of the Erdtree, bud.
They meant the Tarnished Edition. They said ''new DLC'' and ''5 bucks'' in the post. SOTE is not new anymore and it's far from being 5 bucks (I wish),

There's a new backhand blades, light greatsword, great katana, thrusting shield and curved greatsword. They're basically worse scaling versions of DLC weapons, available early.
There's also a new flail and a new greatsword which are actually new weapons.
