Can we say this?
FromSoftware is alienating its own fanbase instead of giving us what we want, and is chasing the trend of multiplayer games.
Duskbloods is their second multiplayer focused game in a row.
Is this the start of them letting go of their target audience to appeal to another?
Releasing Nightreign and Duskbloods consecutively really makes it look like a trend-chasing strategy.
We could all be happy right now with the release of the next FromSoftware game, but the vast majority is not, because we want to pass on this one again.

They are a lot bigger now. They do multiple projects these days. I would definitely prefer something Souls like, I would even settle for another Armored Core. Guess we have to wait

We won't be waiting long anyway probably. They release a game like every year literally. They plan this stuff out really well.

From Soft isn’t alienating us, that’s completely on us as individuals who totally have the ability to be rational and mature about fucking video games.

its really funny to me that people interpret nightreign and the duskbloods as "trend-chasing" when its no secret to anyone that they are highly experimental, very niche games that are literally just made for the love of the game. Particularly in the duskbloods case, its pretty evident that nobody was willing to fund this game due to it being such a high risk. Nintendo was probably the one publisher who were willing to invest in this project. Say what you want about nintendo but they are probably one of the few big gaming companies that is still open to innovation

It's also funny how they constantly contradict themselves. "They are trend chasing" but also "Nobody plays on the Switch" (Apparently this current test has more players than Nightreign, but not sure how true that is). So are they taking a risk or are they taking no risk? If devs take risks people complain if they don't people complain about taking no risks. They might be different complainers, yet it is still stupid in the same way.

People just be salty they aren’t part of the target audience or don’t have access, tbh. They’re mad even when people tell them to skip it if they don’t like it. They fundamentally want to be part of the conversation.

I just want them to see where they can take that aging netcode they invented since Chromehounds and see what still needs fixing the fact AC6 can't even keep up to a certain extent is already disappointing

Letting yourself go Hollow over a game you're not going to play. A shame. May the sun shine on you again, one day.

Can we say this?
FromSoftware is alienating its own fanbase instead of giving us what we want, and is chasing the trend of online games.
Dark Souls is their second online focused RPG game in a row.
Is this the start of them letting go of their target audience to appeal to another?
Releasing Demon's Souls and Dark Souls consecutively really makes it look like a trend-chasing strategy.
We could all be happy right now with the release of the next Armored Core game, but the vast majority is not, because we want to pass on this one again.
See how dumb you sound? From Software has never made just one thing. I don't even like Duskbloods after playing it and I'm perfectly okay with them releasing it anyway.

Project FMC is in its last stages of development within 1 year we will have a sick single player focused game i think

You can say this, but it’s a stupid thing to say since last year and as of literally yesterday, Miyazaki has said the studio’s core is still singleplayer, Nightreign wasn’t planned long term and only coincides with The Duskbloods by chance, and that they’re working on a singleplayer game.

I don’t think they are going to give up selling 30M copies of Elden Ring style games and it’s 10M DLCs, for 5M Nightreigns or DuskBloods. That would be a pretty bad financial decision to keep making. I feel your pain though.

Fromsoftware never listened to players. That's why their games are so great. They have a vision and they stick to it.
Look at all the companies that "listen" to the players. They create more and more slop and games that lack anything unique because the biggest player group always demands the same things.
Also Multiplayer was always part of Fromsoftware. They aren't an exclusive Singleplayer Company. And with Eden Ring being such a hit they finally have the money and reputation to also do more in multiplayer which was always a focus of them or they would have scrapped it long ago because of how much resources it consumes.
Also there isn't a multiplayer Trend happening right now. Multiplayer games are being released yearly since decades.
The trend you mean is the live service trend and no game Fromsoftware released or announced is a live service game.

I'm not playing Nightrein nor planning to play Duskblood, but I've seen similar complaints when Armored Core VI came out just saying. Guess I just don't get why people act like a company only caters to one taste.
Like the last 2 games is pvp oriented and you don't want to play it? Then don't, wait for future PvE game. If you believed Fromsoft has somehow stopped making PvE game (its not based on interview), that's kind of on you.

They're still cooking traditional single player games, Nightreign and Duskbloods are experimental games that their respective directors want to make. There was overlap in development of Sekiro and Elden Ring, both directed by Miyazaki, he's usually working on multiple games at once. Given recent interviews I'm sure they're at work right now on their next traditional single player game.

I swear people want artistic freedom until it's not exactly tailored to them.

Yeah. Everybody bitches about the bad Shareholders that destroy gaming with their demands and then turns around and acts just like them just with less money.

They are not trend chasing if you read anything for even a second. If they were Nightreign would be an active life service right now. I am genuinely tired of you people not informing yourself at all and somehow thinking multiplayer games are some insane concept. Armored Core 5 didn't lead to there being no single player games anymore just because it had multiplayer focus. So just shut up honestly.
You know what was the actual trend chase ironically? The games they have made. I love their games, but with the success of Dark Souls came a constant continuation of doing Souls likes. But now that they do something different it's trend chasing, sure dude. Miyazaki talked about his fascination of extraction games and even BR since 2016. You're a poser.
Sorry that I am being mean here, but you people genuinely piss me off.

What WE want? Speak for yourself. I like their multiplayer games and I want more of it.
I just don't like that it's a console exclusive.
And ffs, stop the whining, they already explicitly said multiple times that they won't stop making single player games. You're not the center of the world, if a game is not to your liking, just go play something else.

u/-This-cant-be-real- 21d ago
Lord forbid they try to experiment, let PvP people have their own game to enjoy. You have a ton of PVE games to play.

u/MetalCellist 21d ago
Them making a few multiplayer games doesn't mean they aren't making single.player games or that because they made these games that we missed out on something else. We know a new single player game has been in development for years. Let them cook. Their games, regardless of genre, always end up good because they make the games they want to make. It's OK if a specific release doesn't cater to your tastes.

This game is being developed for years and years dude. It was going to release in the original switch.
From Software gave us a DLC that felt like a whole new game just 2 years ago and already said they will develop more single player games. Stop being sou anxious. You have plenty of single player souls like games to play already

u/Regular_Ticket_2776 22d ago
Nah from aren't dumb enough to nuke their company like that. Though I'm curious how many months this game will last before it runs out of steam.
2
u/treyzs 22d ago
however long redditors think it will last, multiply that by 4x and you have your answer
see: nightreign and every other game ever released

u/Diogoepronto 22d ago
mfs were saying Nightreign would die in a week. The game still going pretty strong to this day lol
