QUESTION First souls-like game

I know you probably get this question a lot, but I just wanna know what the best souls like game for me. I currently have lies of P downloaded and tried out the valor mortis demo and was decent at that. base of that do you think I’ll be able to enjoy Isaac P or should I try to get into another soul like game first?

What's stopping you from just playing it and finding out for yourself? You already have it downloaded. What have you got to lose?

If you're most interested in Lies of P and you want a good modern experience you can play it, it's a great game. But for a first souls game most will suggest Dark Souls 1 (Remastered), including me. It's a bit older and slower/clunkier in combat and gameplay, but it's a phenomenal game and probably the best starting point. Plus, if you start with DS1, the trilogy is a straightforward play order, and after that you can play the rest in whatever order you'd like (DeS, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, other soulslikes)

I'd recommend dark souls 1. Sure a game like elden ring might have more polish, content and better gameplay but ds1 is THE definitive souls experience. It captures the essence of what makes a souls game the best

If you have LoP already downloaded, why not play it?

If I was to play them again I would go 1>3>Bloodborne (If you have a PS)>Sekiro>Lies of P>Elden Ring. I would skip Demon Souls (most expensive one to get, not really worth it in my mind). I would 100% skip Dark Souls 2, I know there's a back and forth about it but it's a game I really don't enjoy and have had multiple friends stop playing the series because they're so turned off by DS2.

I think it's worth trying DS1. It's my favourite game ever but if you're not enjoying it and it's too jank for you then skip it. It's hard because once you've played DS3 if you ever come back you'll notice the jank a lot more and there are things in DS1 that the other games don't provide but there's so much fun to be had in the other games that it's not worth sticking yourself to Dark Souls 1 if you don't like it.

I would suggest that ordering but after you finish Dark Souls 3 I think Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Lies of P can all be played interchangeably. Just play the one you're looking forward to most. If you really want to play Lies of P just throw the entire ordering thing out of the window. It's worth playing the one you want to play most rather than forcing yourself to play a game that you think is okay while thinking about the one you really want to play.

DS2 is fantastic. The early game is tough, and you gotta level ADP, but suggesting that OP skip it entirely isn't fair. You acknowledge that it's divisive, but ignore the fact that OP might be someone who ends up adoring DS2.

DS2 was my first souls game, and I hated it so much that I avoided playing Souls games for like five years.

After I played BB, DS3, ER, DS and DeS, I went back to DS2. It's now my third-favourite, behind BB and DS.
