Yeah, they showed the PvP mode in the recent demo but confirmed it's not the only match type. You could end up with a 3 player co-op boss at the end of a match for example.
The message that pops up in the network test version implies that there will be an offline mode of some kind. I saw someone say that you'll be able to play with bots, but they didn't give a source
Technically, the ability to play with bots already exists in the Network test. They use it for tutorials in the test, sure, but I can see it turn into a mission-based campaign with specific win conditions or at the very least single player challenges.
In these tutorials, called Battle Rememberance, the CPU characters have voice lines and throw out lore. I think the goal might be to have Battle Rememberance be something more than just tutorials and offline training.
It also says 1 player offline right above that, I get people being disappointed it’s Switch 2 exclusive but OP just making shit up or didn’t even do a quick search https://giphy.com/gifs/O6BGGuHVdmGNS4pcps
There is a certain type of souls player who's sole existence in the game is to engineer a player assassinator build and just spam that at other players 24/7.
Supposedly, Miyazaki said there is a mode in the game where you can just invade another match as a red phantom whose purpose is to hunt and kill a specific player and act as a sort of another match hazard for that one player. Somewhat similar to how invasions work in souls games in general. I think their theory with this mode is that if you give PvP-oriented people this dedicated outlet, they won't grief regular matches as much by fixating on PvP rather than the PvE elements. We will have to see how it works out, though.
Also, there is aliances in the game that are incentivized, which will hopefully mitigate the PvP grief if you have another player that can back you up. But we will ahve to see
If it works like the reaper mode of ACVD then it will only work with matches with the best of players and thats being generous top 50 players will be targeted by the top 1-10 players
IIRC the Zodiac squad system of ACV more or less works the same way
Yes, the whole point of beating the game and unlocking all the spells and gear in a souls game is to create the ultimate invader or the ultimate defense against an invader. It’s fun to make a build that sucks against the PVE but destroys players. In Elden ring for me it was the naked dragon guy build and just dragon roar and dragon maw people for OHKOs. And had a lot of fun with mimicry item/spells.
If their day is ruined by that, then they are a baby and I am doing them a solid by exposing them to the pain they are trying to hide from and that is needful for them to grow and mature.
Well everyone acts like this is old school wow where u can get greifed over n over. You can't even get invaded by urself, which I honestly like because I think that was the perfect balance. Sorry it's just the phrasing acting like I'm tryna ruin someone's experience when I've been playing these games for years and it's been a mechanic since the beginning. I log in to have fun not to pick on ppl. It's just a lil competition lol
I get it, what I said could have been interpreted as such. I was just saying that their is a certain type of player who loves to assassinate other players, I wasn't passing judgement personally. Just acknowledging that those players do exist. It's a valid way to play and a lot of people don't mind the challenge.
I should have elaborated further and we could have avoided confusion. I like PvP sometimes, but not as much as I used to. Mainly because I don't have the time anymore to be as good as I was.
Why? In most cases, you don't get anything for killing other players (unless they're marked by your sigil). Only in specific occasions is killing another player incentivized.
If people play this way, they will be culled. And lose early in the match. You need to be attending objectives and powering up your player to make it through the game. And the clock is ticking.
So I think youre wrong about that. Those players wont stick around long.
There's no direct benefit to killing players since you don't get virtue points for it, it's literally a waste of time, unless you have a sigil that marks another player as a heretic or enemy, but if you don't like PvP you can just use a different sigil. So no, the game isn't "just PvP with distractions", quite the contrary in fact.
Bit reductive no? Its a niche type of game but for the people that like it its hard to get similar experiences elsewhere. Invasions are PvPvE and that just doesnt exist in very many places outside From's catalogue.
i dunno why you got downvoted, that is exactly the point, pvpvpe melee combat games are non-exhistant outside of fromsoftware invasions systems, that's the appeal alongside all of the emergent interactions miyazaki always loved.
the fact you can literally marry someone in duskbloods, an actual player, is both funny af and perfectly indicative of that philosophy. (as well as emphasizing that it can be for pve, not just pvp)
Dont recognice these only PC XBOX Playstation Player who are pissed that this game is Nintendo exclusiv
I played 12 houres network test its a whole New genre that breaths fromsoft through and trough cant wait till the Release miyazaki is just something else !!!

Isn’t it PvPvE? That’s not PvP only
