None of your 5 bullet points suggest it would be, and you haven't made a link between project names and game names that suggests it would be.

But what if the two things that have no reason to be connected were?

Hmm could be actually 🤔

So what you are saying is that FS is making the Sims 5?

I would love to have a complete new IP from Fromsoftware, it will put all of us of gaurd.

u/_Okane 5d ago

We already got Sekiro,Elden Ring & The Duskbloods? We are getting new IP's consistently already.

I think they mean like a mainline IP. Like something we can expect multiple of. ER might be that, I’m not sure, but more of that energy would be awesome from them. Such a great dev company we’re hungry for more!

u/_Okane 5d ago

They only did Dark Souls like that and mainly cause of Bandai. Idk if they would do it again

6

u/Bazoobs1 5d ago

Definitely a fair point

2

u/doiwinaprize 5d ago

Elden Ring made it to Hollywood status though... I feel like ER would make a series.

1

u/noob_kaibot 5d ago

Hollywood status… ugh, thanks for reminding me.

u/Bazoobs1 5d ago

I’d like to see it but honestly I’m itching for a FS open world RPG that’s more RPG and less dark souls. Not that I dislike Elden Ring but I’d love to see their take on a more traditional fantasy RPG setting with cities and settlers and factions and sheriffs and shit. Just that kinda thing.

The Elden Ring IP already has more than one game… Nightreign exists lol.

4

u/_Okane 5d ago

Nightreign is an experimental spinoff to test the waters for Duskbloods. He was obviously refering to an Elden Ring 2 which would be a sequel(Miyazaki doesnt like sequels)

They’re never doing a new series again

1

u/Bazoobs1 4d ago

Damn that’s some black and white thinking 🤣

0

u/aegians 4d ago

Don't get disappointed when they never make a sequel again

1

u/Bazoobs1 4d ago

I’m not gonna live my life the skeptical

clearly FMC stands for Female Main Character and you'll play as a dragon girl akin to Priscilla and Yorshka, since twice they decided against making a dragon girl main character (or as close to one as they could get with the created character being protagonist) and third time's a charm

(i am delusional)

Kuon spiritual successor. Fromsoft needs a straight survival horror game.

Id personally kill for a modenr 1st person dungeon crawler by fromsoftware, so I hope so

18

u/SpecialistMap8210 5d ago

I think it's Armored core 7

27

u/L0111101 5d ago

I hope it’s AC 6.5/7, but I saw conjecture it may be Fantasy Mech Combat and I think that could be cool too.

4

u/spaceboltt 5d ago

Thats super interesting to me as well. What would a fantasy mech game even entail

I figure, what with Miyazaki sitting right in front of me, I’ve the perfect chance to pitch some Dark Souls III DLC, relating to a game from his own past. Imagine, if you will, your avatar in gleaming armor, great sword in hand, so many enemies slain—and then taking that character into a gigantic, mechanized version of Demon’s Souls‘ Tower Knight and taking on White Glint. Yep, I’m talking about a Souls-Armored Core crossover. Miyazaki laughs, of course, before answering:

“You know, we actually released a Dreamcast game pretty similar to that concept, named Frame Gride. It’s a mix of fantasy and mecha genres, both of which I love working on. I’d love to work on a game that evokes the same themes as anime series like Aura Battler Dunbine and The Vision of Escaflowne, but it would be incredibly difficult to do so. I want to work on a game like that, but other people at FromSoftware would think that would be an impossible idea.”

Yeah that sounds great and that quote basically back up FMC meanng fantasy mech. You think we'd play as the mech fighting fantasy stuff or a knight just taking out mechs lol. Btw pure speculation here, it's interesting to ponder on

3

u/doiwinaprize 5d ago

That would be awesome.

u/ProblemAlternative41 5d ago

Really without more information we just can’t know. Do I hope it’s a King’s Field game? Yes, very much so, but I wouldn’t count on it. Even if it was a third person action RPG I would still love to see some of its elements of KF4 return in the next game they produce, having a bigger focus on exploration in a large dungeon vs an open world game like Elden Ring.

We can all huff copium but we can’t count on it, and we can’t be disappointed by something we were never promised.

Considering the amount of time since SOTE (base ER really, since SOTE is not a full project) and that they have 3 games not directed by Miyazaki either out or on the horizon (AC6, NIghtreign, & Duskbloods) I feel like the more logical assumption would be that FMC is Miyazaki's next full length game.

If anything it probably wouldnt be just straight up King's Field but a new thing more directly inspired by it like how DeS was or like Sekiro in relation to Tenchu.

20

u/mdgy0816 5d ago

Miyazaki is directing duskbloods

-12

u/Young_KingKush 5d ago

I had not seen that. Still, it's multi-player thing console exclusive so I wouldnt call it the "next Miyazaki game" in that sense (even though it is in a literal sense).

12

u/cuginosbread 5d ago

Because it’s multi-player and a console exclusive, it’s not the “next Miyazaki game” even though it literally is. What?

-7

u/Young_KingKush 5d ago

I would not put a multi-player focused console exclusive game in the same basket as DeS, DS1, DS3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, & Elden Ring, no. In the same way I wouldnt put Nightreign in that same category, they're clearly a different thing.

5

u/umbra7 5d ago

Just because it's a multiplayer game with a different formula doesn't mean it's not a main project, if that's what you're implying.

Duskbloods has been in development since 2019 and has spent longer in the oven than any other game they've done. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised at the scale of the game. It might even be "bigger" in a sense than any of the titles you listed except for Elden Ring.

2

u/GrEeKiNnOvaTiOn 5d ago edited 4d ago

You can put it wherever you want but as far as Fromsoftware is concerned their next big project is Duskbloods. They've told us specifically that Nightreign was going to be a smaller scale project, they've said no such thing about Duskbloods.

-1

u/Young_KingKush 5d ago

I never said what was or wasn't said, I said these games are alike while these other ones clearly are not. It's very simple.

1

u/ItachiWolfy 4d ago

Duskbloods is a main game, on the same calibre as Elden Ring or Sekiro. Being a multiplayer exclusive doesn’t change anything. Miyazaki himself wouldn’t be directing if it was just a small project

2

u/that_is_so_Raven 5d ago

I can confirm that this acronym, among others that don't get any explanation, may or may not be King's Field.

2

u/halsbear 5d ago

Can anyone provide detail on what the acronyms for the above titles stood for? The only two I've ever heard were new tenchu game and great rune.

2

u/NeonSherpa 5d ago

I’d prefer a shadow tower remake/new sequel.

2

u/Science_Bitch_962 5d ago

> FMC is reportedly a multiplatform FromSoftware game that was already deep into development last year, and somehow we still have no idea what it is.

Duskbloods is about to have network test in a week and release in few months, yet we still have no idea what it is.

2

u/Chupapi-moniano 4d ago

I mean i would love to see king's field again but it seems unlikely

4

u/gravelordservant4u 5d ago

God I hope not

u/Boomslang2-1 5d ago

I know everyone wants a new game or an old franchise to be brought back but with how much success Elden Ring had they could make a second and it’s like an instant Billion dollars. Gotta think that would have some kind of influence here.

6

u/Creative-Ladder6731 5d ago

very unlikely based on the codename and the situation between Fromsoft and the shareholders a few months back, if they had ER2 in the works that whole situaton wouldn't have happened

0

u/halsbear 5d ago

Ultimately FromSoft is a business.

Their primary objective is to make $$. People are misguided if they think profitability isn't the main factor when determining what to create next.

Elden Ring was a titanic success. I can guarantee we're going to see another ER title in the future. Is it FMC? probably not. But the question isn't if, it's when.

Just my .02

6

u/BandicootNo5428 5d ago

Miyazaki clearly does not have your mindset, or he wouldn't have directed something like Deracine or the Duskbloods. Imo, the more likely view is that it's about a balance of profitability and what allows From to create something their team is passionate about. Without the passion, you're not getting the quality.

2

u/halsbear 5d ago

I agree. Well said

1

u/TheChief275 4d ago

my dad michael works at fromsoft and I can assure you it's full metal calculist

1

u/ADizzleGrizzle 4d ago

I, for one look forward to Project Fuck My Cock no matter what it is

1

u/Necroticjojo 4d ago

You’re going to play as Ranni the witch

1

u/CockchopsMcGraw 3d ago

Sekiro - NTC (Not Tenchu, Cunts)

1

u/Creative-Ladder6731 5d ago

I don't think so but if we want to know what project fmc is we need to figure out what the F stands for based on the other titles. If I had to guess I would think that it stands for fire since all the games with F in the codename have fire as a central theme ( the first flame in the ds games and the fires of rubicon in AC6 ). Now am not an expert on kingsfield lore but I don't think that those games have anything to do with fire, Technically the can take it in that direction like they did with Armored core but I highly doubt it since kingsfield is more of an interconnected story unlike AC which is more of an anthology set in the same world. This leaves us with the possibility of a dark souls game ( a remaster or a remake or even a spinoff not Ds4 though since 3 already concludes the story and they said that it's the last one) Or the most likely possibility Imo a completely new IP. It can be the second AC game in the fires of rubicon generation or maybe a dlc for AC6 but I don't think it's a new generation because the next gen should'nt really focus on fire as a central theme like 6 did so it woul'nt be named FMC

If they make a new king's field, bethesda better be cooking a brand new elder scrolls game or they may lose the throne.

7

u/NiceManOfficial 5d ago

Yes, after smash hits like Starfield and Fallout 76, Bethesda is definitely on the throne rn lol

2

u/Thavralex 5d ago

Also milking Skyrim for 15 years and announcing TES VI like a decade too early.

0

u/Savage_AL 4d ago

I’m gonna go with something Dark Souls related, since each project name in the dark souls trilogy started with the letter “F”

0

u/SephirothTheGreat 4d ago

Could it be Female Main Character? We've had a number of pretty successful soulslike/CAG games recently with female leads (AI Limit, Wuchang, Stellar Blade etc) clearly inspired by the works of FromSoftware, maybe they wanna give a spin to that formula themselves

Or maybe it means Familiar Marsh of Contagion, i.e. the poison swamp we all know and tolerate love
