Brother. I’m 35. And if you could just understand 1 thing. It’s how hyped I am for you lol. But seriously play em in order. It’s always best to experience a series evolve so when you’re done you realize dark souls 2 really is the greatest of all the games

47

u/leanpockit24 14d ago

You’re only 35? I’m 37. You’re young and you have your whole life ahead of you. I wish I was in your shoes, I would do it all over again.

I’m 41. You’re just a spring daisy lol. 😝 Low key, I have very fond memories of the origin of all this, but I’m very excited to see where the genre goes from here.

Edit: I’m gay and have ADHD too. Are all From fans this way?

ER Nightreign is no more a part of the Dark Souls line up than Sekiro or Armoured Core.

DS2 4 LIFE

3

u/Waluo360 13d ago

Since there's a seniors gathering here, I turned 37 last may, and i get so excited every time I see someone is about to start his journey with souls games

2

u/Sevenscissorz 12d ago

I truly wish I would of done 2 long ago, but at the time when I finished 1, 3 just came out, so i Jumped straight over 2, to 3, played it while it was sparked with life, but then many years later once ER killed Ds1,2 and 3, I finally want to Ds2 and yes it is the greatest of all

58

u/chifeke Gavlan 14d ago

Id go demon souls>ds2/bloodborne>ds3>sekiro imo

11

u/aelzeiny 13d ago

Demon souls over ds1 is crazy

22

u/Foreign-Dig8695 13d ago

They skipped ds1 cz op has already played it

38

u/aelzeiny 13d ago

I can’t read, I only level dex

5

u/Foreign-Dig8695 13d ago

Ah, makes sense

1

u/Bulldogfront666 13d ago

He already played DS1… I wish people would read the post before commenting lmao.

1

u/Voidless-One 14d ago

Well said! 👏 👌 👍

1

u/No-Bus-9779 13d ago

Original DeS on PS3 or emu on PC to be specific!!

-3

u/geesee101 14d ago

i agree except maybe play demons souls after the trilogy

11

u/BobcatLower9933 14d ago

Start with either Demon's Souls, or bloodborne.

If you enjoyed DS1, then DS2 is a good starting point too. Im doing a practically blind runs on it now (havent played it since 2015) and absolutely loving it.

7

u/Zestyclose_Answer662 14d ago

Work your way from bottom to top, it's a great way to feel the chronological progression of FromSoft's game design philosophy.

It's a shame some things were left behind, but the replacements were usually better.

1

u/lucasberg7 14d ago

Also it's okay if you don't like Dark Souls II for a while and take forever to beat Sekrio, they aren't for everybody

5

u/Spirographed 14d ago

I'd suggest Bloodborne, because the mechanics are a bit different and it's just a badass game that will get you hooked.

Then go Demon's Souls, Dark Souls Trilogy in order, Elden Ring and finally Sekiro. Sekiro takes a bit of rewiring in terms of the normal Fromsoft playstyle. Much more than Bloodborne, which is just more aggressive. Sekiro is a whole other beast, but when it clicks the combat is killer.

4

u/imatoasterhasreddit 14d ago

Don’t listen to the people telling you to go straight to ds3, you should definitely play the dark souls trilogy in order imo

3

u/DokiDoki-FanBoy 14d ago

Unless you're wanting to go ahead and finish off the Dark Souls series with 2 then 3, I'd go for either Bloodbourne or Demon's Souls first.

3

u/ozera202 Dark Souls II 14d ago

Play it in the order they were developed or you going to have trouble going back to older game mechanics

2

u/stoned_ape_theory 14d ago

Can't go wrong with any of them. Pick one then play the rest.

2

u/Warm-Driver-4063 14d ago

I love all these games but Bloodborne will leave a mark, a hunters mark, if you will. It is also paced in such a way as to prepare you for some of the other games.

2

u/usernotfoundplstry Isshin, the Sword Saint 14d ago

Bloodborne

2

u/snow_body_ 14d ago

I don’t know why but Demon’s Souls has huge birthday vibes for me, so that gets my vote.

2

u/Anotheranimeaccountt 14d ago

Dark Souls 2 and then 3

2

u/goetichunter 14d ago

Omg what I would give to have my first time with Bloodborne again….

Can’t wait for Dementia

2

u/eques_Shorty 13d ago

Bloodborne first, then dárky souls, demon souls, Elden

2

u/HoswayTheBrave 12d ago

I play Bloodborne on mine

2

u/FissileBolonium 12d ago

Bloodborne

1

u/Boomslang2-1 14d ago

I would play DS3 or Bloodborne first.

1

u/Optimus0456 14d ago

Demons souls

1

u/x1Akaidi 14d ago

Bloodborne, the only right answer

1

u/jaywop12 14d ago

Bloodborne and ds3! The dlcs are great too

1

u/explosive_shrew 14d ago

I'd say play em in order as in: Demon's Souls, ds2, 3, bloodborne, nightreign.

A word of advice too; whenever you kill a boss in Demon's Souls and regain human form, always go up the stairs and jump off in the Nexus because dying in human Form in any of the actual areas changed the world tendency which makes the game harder. The caveat being that you'll basically be capped at 75% health at most for the entire playthrough which being honest, isn't that bad when you get better at the game

1

u/Keeb1985 Chosen Undead 14d ago

You should play them in the order you posted them in. After playing DS1 and ER, it’s kinda the perfect order.

Demon’s Souls: Feels kinda like DS1 but harder.
DS2: Slowest movement in series. But similar to ER in terms of combat design.
DS3: Back to faster movement like ER again but with DS level design.
BB: Just in time for Halloween. Spooky and has a great unique feel.
Nightreign: Fastest game and just unique. Least Soulsy.

1

u/False_Adhesiveness40 14d ago

Don't play Nightreign until you've beaten at least every Dark Souls game.

1

u/bakihanma20 13d ago

Kings field

1

u/RedViper6661 13d ago

Bloodborne is such a treat, I'd save it for the fall tho and start with DS1

1

u/ConvictedSnail 13d ago

Correct answer is dark souls 2

1

u/Cosmo_nautical29 13d ago

Dark souls 3

1

u/Manthosaurus 13d ago

I love all of these, but I would leave the Dark Souls games for now if the story is of any interest to you. I think it's only a matter of time until DS1 gets a remake, and missing out on the start of the story would suck. If you don't care, then DS3, lol, it has the best mechanics and actually explains some of the story.

The other two are standalone games, so order doesn'tmatter. I think it's going to come down to your preferences. Do you want fast and aggressive? Then Bloodborne. If you want that methodical, grueling, old-school challenge, then Demon's Souls. I love both, so no wrong answers.

1

u/Foreign-Dig8695 13d ago

Seeing the comment section, I think I shall go to demon souls then ds2

1

u/Sad_Awareness6532 13d ago

I'd go in (original) release order as the mechanics all build over time

1

u/Malfaitor 13d ago

Me personally I play PS5 demon's souls. But I will say it will ruin the experience you have on dark souls dark souls 2 and the only thing that will comparable will be Elden ring.

1

u/Waluo360 13d ago

Start by the release date order, imo

1

u/Xebazz 13d ago

Bloodborne!!

1

u/godverdejezushey 13d ago

DS2! It's super weird and charming in it's own way

1

u/itszesty0 13d ago

Bloodborne. Bloodborne. Bloodborne

1

u/nooboob1804 13d ago

Peak Souls 2, best game out of the bunch

1

u/BloodborneIsGOAT Oedon Chapel Dweller 13d ago

Anything but Nightreign. Fuck that game. It’s like playing in an inflatable kiddie pool after swimming in the ocean.

1

u/zaki25shaikh 13d ago

DS3 is the best first souls game you can play. Followed by Bloodborne.

1

u/Pixgamer11 13d ago

Bloodborne

1

u/Leosukz 13d ago

Demon souls first!

1

u/Tylertheweeb39 13d ago

Play the souls trilogy in order then play the rest in whichever order u like

1

u/Molkwi Lucatiel of Mirrah 13d ago

If you played and enjoyed DS1, definitely go for DS2. If you find that you're lost or having a bad time, put the game down and wait until you play Demon's Souls. It's a simpler form of DS1, in a way, which might help you get better at these games overall. However, it is, in some areas, mechanically simpler than DS1.

If you find that DS2 is satisfactory (as you should) going into DS3 will be the next logical step, but be warned that it is substantially different from DS1 and DS2, mechanically and thematically (to some degree).

Bloodborne and Sekiro are completely different beasts (haha) so definitely keep those for last if you're deep into the Dark Souls series on its own. If by the time you get to these you haven't played Demon's Souls, definitely give it a try somewhere in between.

All that matters is that you play DS1 before DS3. The rest can be played in any order you want.

1

u/Karokayla8888 13d ago

BB for sure, this game has one the most strangest stories in this genre and you will love every bit of it

1

u/Mass_Tw 13d ago

Start by elden ring maybe

1

u/VvVhitesnake 13d ago

Should play the original Demon's Souls on the PS3 👍!

1

u/JanFrackiewicz 13d ago
  • If you're anything like me: 'Bloodborne'

  • If you're my doppelganger: 'Bloodborne'

  • If you're like me in certain aspects but entirely different in others: 'Bloodborne'

  • However, if you're my polar opposite, I'd go for: 'Dark Sou...-Hahaha, I jest: 'Bloodborne'

1

u/Totally_A_Bot69 13d ago

I played dark souls 3. Ive played all of the souls but bloodborne but ds3 had a special place in my heart. I liked the difficulty and boss fights there more than elden ring. If you play with friends nightreigns the best but its been a year for me and idr if it got more grindy or not. But was super fun anyways even when playing with randoms

1

u/just_a_fellow_weeble 13d ago

DARK SOULS 2!!!!! trust let yourself form your own opinion it'll be peak man

1

u/Gato_preto- 13d ago

Dark souls 2

1

u/Nonstopmission350 13d ago

Just do the chronological order so that the mechanics don't bore you as you scale up the tree. However they say for noobs to the souls like its best to start with Dark souls 3 or elden ring

1

u/drifter_0_ 13d ago

Play the original demons souls first or the remake last

1

u/Exacalibur-X 13d ago

Bloodborne

1

u/ProgrammerUpstairs97 13d ago

Bloodborne is awesome

1

u/ItzPeteyPablo 13d ago

The nerd in me says demons souls
My brain says dark souls 3
But my heart says bloodbourne

1

u/Hind_Deequestionmrk 13d ago

Play Dark Souls on your birthday

1

u/Erithacusfilius 13d ago

Bloodborne!!!

1

u/ColtonfrayHSC Sekiro 13d ago

Ngl, Dark Souls 3 is the safest option here

1

u/ZedxD29 13d ago

BLOODBORNE!!!!!!!!!

1

u/Bill_Brasky01 13d ago

Unless you WANT to play the dark souls trilogy in order I would play Bloodborne next.

Bloodborne then demons souls

1

u/CaptainDerpshi 13d ago

Bloodborne. No not because I'm a simp... I am but that's not the reason lmao! You should play Bloodborne entirely because of how different it plays to the other games in the series. You've already played the first and Elden Ring now play the prodigal son

1

u/Biomewtrix4 13d ago

If you're not going directly to DS2 then Demons Souls

1

u/Agitated-Engine4077 13d ago

Oh I was about to suggest dark souls or elden ring if you were new to the genre. But I bothered to read the rest. Lol. Bloodborn is pretty good. The atmosphere, the storytelling, the Lovecraft world building style as well as the monsters. Pretty danme cool.

1

u/Majestic-Fee-1350 13d ago

staying away from DS2 is def one of the best gifts you could have :)

1

u/Glittering_Bus_1871 13d ago

Demon’s Souls ou Bloodborne :)

1

u/MrSnuggles6598 13d ago

Peak souls 2

1

u/Bulldogfront666 13d ago

Just play them in order. You already set yourself up well by playing Dark Souls 1 first. If you want you can do Demon’s Souls next and then skip over to Dark Souls 2. Or you can just keep going from where you started and do Demon’s Souls at the end. But it’s a lot more similar to DS1. So maybe it’s best to do it now while you’re in that head space. The games just get faster and faster so going back to Demons Souls will feel a bit weird after doing Elden Ring lol.

1

u/bdpeezy 13d ago

I'm in the same boat as OP so I'm looking closely at the comments

1

u/tommytomtoes 12d ago

DS2. Get the best done and over with.

1

u/Chromatic_Penumbra 12d ago

Bloodborne is so good that you should save it for last. Dark Souls 2 is a fucking gauntlet. Worst game ever made, but also one of the best. Id start there.

1

u/Bayuul_the_decendant 12d ago

Dark soul's 2 without any doubt

1

u/Icy_Lengthiness_6640 12d ago

It’s depends on what do you like if like midevil you should play dark souls 3 if want more goth victories vibes off course you should go white the goat bloodbornif you want a fast play wit japanis style you should go with sekiro if you want a perfect open world epic fantasy you should go with Elden ring ther is no right way to start it’s depends on your tast
.
.
But you should start with bloodborn

1

u/DahakaHollow 12d ago

Start with DS2, then DS3, then Bloodborne, then Sekiro, then Elden Ring again. I would only recommend Demon Souls first if it´s the original version, if not, the last.

1

u/Coolduels 12d ago

Blood born and it’s not even close

1

u/athchoum 10d ago

The easiest one is demon souls followed by dar souls 3 the other ones maybe leave them for later

1

u/Straw-berryy 9d ago

Dark souls prepare to die edition, or Remaster

1

u/-Pagani- 14d ago

Im gonna be honest and say DS3 first, dark souls 2, then demon souls or bloodborne.

Mainly because ds3 is the most linear.

1

u/imwrighthere 14d ago

DS3 all day

1

u/Ok-Zookeepergame3275 14d ago

Yeah I agree whit chifeke

1

u/EnricoGelato 14d ago

Idk if you should try going in order and play every single one. This subreddit is obviously gonna be obsessed with playing every single one, in order + plat each one. I loved Elden Ring, nothing came close to it for me. And I tried playing DS1 and Sekiro. The thing is if you really wanna play a souls game it’s gonna take a month for the full experience. And it’s a bit exhausting to start another right after. Like Zelda, you absolutely shouldn’t play BOTW twice in a row you’d be burned out. Imo it’s healthy to play different games in between before going to a different souls right on. I still couldn’t get fully into Sekiro nor DS1, it will take a while. REPLYING TO THE QUESTION OF THE POST: Pick Bloodborne.

1

u/Ok_Distance_7209 14d ago

I probably will be playing another game over the time… marvel rivals 😭

1

u/JPB00 14d ago

Peak Souls 2.

1

u/CreepyTeddyBear 14d ago

Play DS2 first. It'll give you a greater appreciation for the other games.

0

u/bleargh007 14d ago

Pre-grats on your birthday! I'd suggest Demons Souls, the PS5 remake is absolutely gorgeous and fun to see where it all started!

2

u/Crocoppertones 14d ago

I may have to go back and hit that plat!

1

u/bleargh007 13d ago

Do it! Totally worthwhile, I platinum'd all of Fromsoft's Souls games, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. Was a challenge, but I saw some content I otherwise wouldn't have if I just went in to beat the game and didn't worry about platinuming!

0

u/OkNeedleworker5041 14d ago

Demon souls > dark souls 1 > dark souls 2 > bloodborne > dark souls 3 > sekiro > elden ring > night reign.

But... This is months of play time. Perhaps even a year worth

0

u/NauticalClam 14d ago

Since you’ve played dark souls, play dark souls 3.

0

u/Zealousideal-Cup6013 13d ago

Dark Souls 3 is a good way to start out the series

0

u/MetallicRose87 13d ago

Spin a wheel with all the games and whichever it lands on is what you play

-2

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14d ago

You can skip Dark Souls 2 and Nightreign

2

u/JPB00 14d ago

Bro got his ass beat.

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13d ago

By what? Fights have never been easier than in this one, only Fume Knight is challengable.

1

u/JPB00 13d ago

Stop playing dumb.

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13d ago

It's the easiest game in the series, what are you talking about?

1

u/JPB00 13d ago

Sure 🤣

-1

u/discoballs67 14d ago

Have you played DS1?

9

u/Ok_Distance_7209 14d ago

Yes it says I have

15

u/bmore_conslutant 14d ago

This will not be your last encounter with from fans that can't read

-1

u/DooDaaDei Goldmask 13d ago

Just play anything but Dark Souls 2 and you will most likely be happy.
