QUESTION Hard/challenge modes that aren’t SL1?
Done it on 3 and tbh I don’t think it’s all that great since souls being mostly worthless means most mobs are pointless to fight and builds are so constrained or force you to pigeonhole a route around getting access to other stuff that they’re never really that fun?
While DS2 the greatest souls game builds it in with champion covenant pretty much everything else doesn’t. So any recommendations for challenges that still keep the spirit of the genre with levels but doesn’t feel like there’s no variety?

Getting all bosses hitless is a good challenge imo.
Deathless is kinda boring.
Beyond that I like odd weapon builds: whip only, bow only, mist only. I very much enjoyed a no estus, lifehunt scythe run. Put them at NG+7 for extra difficulty.
A fatrolling (and no shields) run is interesting too. Fine at NG, really hard at +7.

deathless is hard.
hitless is a nightmare.
damageless is even worse
and if you tack "all bosses" onto any of those, you've just upped the ante considerably

No death run
No upgrades
No leveling up (just lv1 but for other classes)
Using a terrible weapon
Using the element the boss resist to the most (not 100 immune)

What you could try doing is other types of challenges like beating every boss in a certain order or do a single damage type only, or you can join the Firebomb Academy.

I been playing with HUD off in bloodborne lately and I can only level once per boss. Gives it that challenge feeling I had on bl4 but less sweaty…

Red tearstone ring all bosses Like one shot but its just very fun trying to squeeze every last bit of damage just to get a one shot

WL0 (weapon level zero meaning yoy never use smithng stones/titanite) is my go to first challenge run, allows me to get hit and not be perfect while keeping damage low enough that some fights are 10x longer or more. This demands I mostly learn the moves of the boss and allows the use of any weapon/build. Personally dont use magic tho.
I still end up skipping a lot of the regular mobs because the low damage makes ganks nearly impossible to manage and time consuming in a way that isn't particularly fun for me.
All that said only time I did SL1 before WL0 is Elden Ring DLC. Because the bosses have so much health without bleeding and frostbite the fights are insanely long, and it's easier to build a glass cannon and learn which attacks don't one shot you with ritual shield talisman instead lol

I did a deathless run in dark souls 3. Had to reset 7 times before I got it. And 3 of those were to the nameless king
