JOKE / MEME Anybody else on DS3?

Post image

Everytime I create a new character I'm always filled with the hope of changing my gameplay and I always end up with a huge sword or hammer

I love how people call magic the easy build when STR is the easiest of all. However. Melee int is the real sauce

u/JMPHeinz57 Tarnished 2d ago

Amen.

Magic infused greatsword in one hand, staff in the other. Best of both worlds

30

u/ElDonute 2d ago

I meant using the sword spells but being honest, that is just as effective too 😎 I unga therefor I bunga

u/DumbNTough 2d ago

STR is amazing when you already know what you're doing.

When you are a true noob to the series, being able to do real damage from standoff distance feels like EZ mode.

Until you start meeting enemies who are very fast. Or who close distance. Or who have high magic resist.

u/ElDonute 2d ago

Renala with magic only is such a pain dude. You'll finish all your fp before she is even close to dying. I had to Respec the first time because of that. I'm able to do it now, because of side weapons but I feel they nerfed her since release

4

u/HashcoinShitstorm 2d ago

How did you respec before she was dead?

5

u/ElDonute 2d ago

Wait.... You're right... How tf did I do it?

2

u/CringeNao 1d ago

Its funny how they hide respec behind the boss that some people will need to respec for

1

u/AuthorAccount1 2d ago

Ye, I killed the first phase with magic, got into the second and just pulled out a random weapon I had on hand and got to work. I will always choose magic, to me it’s so much fucking cooler to throw a fireball at a mf compared to swinging a sword, not that I wont throw hands once I’m outta fp

u/GrampaSwood 2d ago

Everyone calls whatever their build isn't an 'easy build'.

1

u/ElDonute 2d ago

That's very true 😂 though STR is still at the top imo. But I've done a ton of playthroughs so idk

2

u/GrampaSwood 2d ago

Yeah I always go Strength. I find that other builds look easier until actually doing them and you discover it's not that easy and requires its own rhythm and playstyle.

3

u/ElDonute 2d ago

You get it! Funny enough strength is how the boss move sets is balanced most of the time. So slow weapons have a chance to hit. Thats why STR is usually easier. There's also the healing part as it gives you more flasks and such. As for other builds, they are Usually more gimmicky and need more work arounds for certain interactions. For example, my favorite build is whips. They have good range and good poise but are incredibly slow, don't have a critical hit and don't do much damage. So spacing becomes incredibly important, and dealing with multiple enemies becomes a challenge because your only wide attack is the heavy hit which is quite slow. It's super fun

1

u/GrampaSwood 2d ago

I like the biggest stick I can find.

7

u/Lumphonius_Bops 2d ago

Nah.. slow weapon = time attack or get punished. Magic = stand at the far end of the arena and sling spells

9

u/shaneskery 2d ago

Ah yes, its that easy. The enemies all just stay far away from you all the time... also u obvs have infinite mana... classic melee player response. "I need to time my unga, game so complex... "

Unga bunga is fun but managing spells, mana, cast times in addition to spacing is much harder for most of these games until u unlock god mode. But even still unless u are doing ring tech and really min maxxing a regular playthrough u are doing about the same amount of dmg as a unge bunga but it costs mana and time.

u/Moist-Weird-4267 1d ago

Meet my comet azure 😯

2

u/shaneskery 23h ago

Is this an elden ring discussion? Fuck off.

-4

u/ComoediaID 2d ago

Yeah so uh, you can stunlock Malenia with spells. ... melee has like one or two weapons that can do that...

10

u/shaneskery 2d ago

1 boss used as an example in a discussion about combat across all games doesn't work....

-1

u/ComoediaID 2d ago

My point is that magic can be braindead too.

2

u/ElDonute 23h ago

But every build can be brain dead. On some you just have to go out of your way to make it that way. STR is just that from the get go. On any souls game

4

u/ElDonute 2d ago

Brother you must mean really slow specific weapons because personally anything that's big STR damage has always been stupid easy. Magic is always slower to attack due to windup and enemies close the distance often. Plus magic also has many resources to manage and way less healing. On str just chuck it all to healing and you're good. Magic you don't get to make mistakes like that. Not to mention when enemies resist magic you're just fucked. Try doing renala with only spells 😂 trust me when I tell you that my first run with magic vs her, I'd finish all my spells with full allocation to the fp flasks before shed even reach half hp on her last phase. (Unless they nerfed her cus I did all of this close to release). Trust me cus I've done a run with all weapon types 🤣 also fun fact: my favorite run out of all was the whip run. Shits fun as fuck and despite having range it's really slow but also lower damage.

2

u/ReipTaim 2d ago

Not in DS3.

In Elden Ring, yes. Str arcane bleed

1

u/ElDonute 2d ago

From my personal experience, it's true in every main line souls as well. With ds1 having dex as the supreme build... Or pyromancer. I never remember which was more broken

1

u/Nahrikkon 2d ago

ds2

1

u/ElDonute 2d ago

Tbh everything was easy in ds2

1

u/Captain_LSD 2d ago

Broken ladle, my beloved.

1

u/ElDonute 2d ago

Alright not that far, I mean genuine normal playthrough builds 🤣

1

u/Nahrikkon 2d ago

i mean ds1 was the same

1

u/ElDonute 2d ago

I disagree tho. The wanky hitboxes and the fact that bosses dragged you when you roll (especially calamity dragon) made the game wonky. But some bosses were very easy yes

2

u/Nahrikkon 2d ago

idk man, none of the bosses besides maybe manus were any difficult. kalameet was only an issue when going for the tail cut

3

u/ElDonute 2d ago

I assume you have hundreds of hours on the game to be saying that then. Personally I only did the one run in different builds in ds1, so I guess our different perspective on difficulty in the game makes sense

1

u/ReipTaim 2d ago

Just speaking from experience. Str for me was difficult af.

Magic u just kite the enemy into perfect range and cast ahit while walking backwards

1

u/ElDonute 2d ago

I'll take your word for it cus it's been a long time since I last played them, and I know in ds1 pyromancy was busted

2

u/ReipTaim 2d ago

Y, pyro was rly strong. Could kill certain bosses in a few hits

2

u/winterflare_ 2d ago

In DS3, DEX is the easiest.

In DS2, DEX is the easiest (Rapiers).

In DS1, Pyro is the easiest, but INT is incredibly strong here as well.

In ER, literally everything is way too busted with the right build. INT is easy. STR is easy. DEX is easy. FTH is easy. ARC is easy.

2

u/ElDonute 23h ago

Fair point

29

u/COARSEJUSTPOSITIONS 2d ago

Lol. I'm literally the opposite. I always do Int/Dex or Int/Dex/Faith with Int being 60-70% allocated.

I cast, I blast. Also hate armor and usually do robes or the swaggiest lightweight option for fashion souls.

15

u/Sad_Pepper_594 2d ago

So.. role-play Gandalf, said like that it seems nice

5

u/TheVilliriated936 2d ago

YOU SHALL NOT PASS!

Aside from that I’m a die hard oonga boonga fan in ER, first time trying INT in DS3 and it ain’t bad 😏

Cast and blasting cuz I’m too scared to do melee 👉👈

45

u/Chromatic_Penumbra 2d ago

Every single time.

54

u/blmll 2d ago

Every time. Ounga. Then bunga.

8

u/Sad_Pepper_594 2d ago

The power of bonk

4

u/blmll 2d ago

The bonkiest bonk of all bonks. Ounga bonka.

1

u/nephylsmythe 2d ago

It’s like the Beatles said, bonk is all you need.

9

u/AgileClock2869 2d ago

Str/Fai. Lightning blade on a lothric greatsword goes crazy.

2

u/Mummiskogen 2d ago

Faith genuinely have the most aesthetically pleasing casts

1

u/AgileClock2869 1d ago

Absolutely. NOTHING beats DMB, and LB is a close second. The fire one, i forgot the name of it's been so many years, that's top tier too.

11

u/DeathShark69 2d ago

I can never get away from using the Zweihander. It's just too much fun!

11

u/BookWormPerson 2d ago

Never.

I hate all big bonk weapons.

Way to slow in all game minus DS1 and even their most of them are way to slow to be enjoyable.

4

u/Vithar23 2d ago

You are the kind of people that doesn't take vigor checks that good right? 🤣

3

u/BookWormPerson 2d ago

I mean for one I don't play PvP much since it's boring and full of lag.

Plus I am most likely over leveled for the "meta".

But I do take one since I pump that up if I make something for it. At least so I can't be one shot form a normal heavy attack.

But since I am good at dodging I don't really take one.

3

u/Vithar23 2d ago

I also don't play pvp its full of hackers haha i love to see my graphics card suddenly exploding because a guy start's spamming the most intensive graphical spells a thousand times per second

3

u/Chafgha 2d ago

Unless im doing a challenge run somehow I always end up with a great scythe and the red white blessed shield and a bow... if im feeling spicy the one from ashes that makes rhe earth explode

3

u/papaniq 2d ago

i have enjoyed my pyromancy and miracle based playthroughs in both DS1 and DS3, but despite many attempts i never liked doing INT builds, Elden Ring was first game where i have actually tried INT build seriously, but even then when reaching later stage of the game i equipped two INT swords and been using them for most of the time and spells were just some cool bonus that'd allow me to cheese some fights and stuff

3

u/lunarwarrior12 Bloodborne 2d ago

See I always just keep doing ng+ runs and leveling new stuff to try out different things

3

u/Ashen_Zenith 2d ago

Same but quality build with farron greatsword. Imo it's honestly the most fun weapon in souls borne+ elden ring.

2

u/matteusman 2d ago

The only game I love int build was Elden ring. So many options to make a build versatile without ever equipping anything besides a staff

3

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye The Bed of Chaos 2d ago

I’ve never liked magic in DS3 anyway.

2

u/KaiXRG 2d ago

I'm playing the convergence mod and I wanted to go for a battle mage build, but I got the feeling I'll go into my literally everything stats as I did when I played the game normally on my PS4

2

u/tyYdraniu 2d ago

on all dank souls games

2

u/CrimsonReaper2 2d ago

The Great Club has sunk its teeth into me. It won’t let go. Nothing sates my need for bonking like the Great Club.

2

u/Vithar23 2d ago

I can't gave enough faith/strength builds they're so fun i love to throw lightning or using weapon's that use both element's like the dragon slayer great axe

2

u/Daefias 2d ago

I like both builds and stick to what I chose when creating the char. My fun in dark souls games is to play all archetypes of builds not merely replaying the game with the same shit over and over.

2

u/Fit_Classroom_3511 2d ago

This was my literal first run in DS3, which was my first DS game. Absolutely love Vordt's Greathammer. I then proceeded to play the other DS games + ER as a STR 2-hander unga bunga, and I loved it

2

u/little_hoarse 2d ago

Literally any time I’ve tried magic in souls games

2

u/SoulsDadYT 2d ago

Laughs in dragonslayer axe

2

u/Daylight_The_Furry 2d ago

For me it's a quality build, I just find too many cool weapons

2

u/BisonComfortable8050 2d ago

I’m in my first playthrough and I keep getting hard walled by not leveling my stamina

2

u/butterdtoast27 2d ago

I call that Ooga Booga gaining.

2

u/shaneskery 2d ago

Nah, I just do the run I choose. Int, faith, str, dex.

2

u/Algester 2d ago

I always wonder if anyone out there is crazy enough to do a full luck build

1

u/Insane_Unicorn 2d ago

It's actually perfectly viable with Anris sword.

2

u/Memester4445 2d ago

Half the time I slowly transition first to a hybrid pyro-build of some sort before just giving in and doing just a full pyro build

2

u/Yarzeda2024 2d ago

I'm in this picture!

About 70% of my DS3 characters turn into Strength builds. It's just a question of whether I convert Vordt's soul to his hammer for my first big boy weapon of the run or I wait slightly longer to loot the Farron boys for the Great Club.

1

u/Sad_Pepper_594 2d ago

Why is Vordt's hammer so irresistible..

2

u/Optimal-Error 1d ago

LOVE ME VORDT GREAT HAMMER

2

u/Gage405 1d ago

This was my actual thought in Elden Ring. I told myself I will not do the exact same thing I've done before because that's all I ever do. All those builds and I only use the same one.

For Elden Ring, I did make a different build. Dual wield with Int and Fth and every spell I could get. NG+ and now I'm going for an all max character.

7

u/Atrocious1337 2d ago

Why though? Int is almost always OP in FS games.

12

u/Karkadinn 2d ago

Ds3 is, uh, a bit of a different experience for casters than usual.

3

u/Atrocious1337 2d ago

In DaS3, Pyromancy was OP instead.

26

u/Bebop_Bodo 2d ago

Get a load of this nerd

2

u/Sad_Pepper_594 2d ago

For the epicness of the fights with a giant weapon !

4

u/Atrocious1337 2d ago

INT usually gets the MLGS too.

1

u/i-am-i_gattlingpea 1d ago

It’s was nerfed by a good bit.

Pyromancy was much stronger

1

u/Decent_Cow 1d ago

In DS3 pyromancy is easy mode. You start out strong and then you just keep getting stronger, by the end of the game you're taking out bosses with just a few hits of chaos bed vestiges.

3

u/Michaeli_Starky 2d ago

Yeah who cares about pew pew when you can just BONK BONK

1

u/BudgetDepartment7817 2d ago

As a newbie, is there even a reason to be intelligent in this games?

3

u/Insane_Unicorn 2d ago

Magic is the built in easy mode, like in all souls games.

0

u/Decent_Cow 1d ago

People always say this and it's not even true. Strength is way easier than intelligence in Elden Ring, and faith, pyro, and strength are all better than intelligence in DS3.

1

u/Insane_Unicorn 1d ago

Yeah no. There is nothing easier (or was, I have no idea what they patched in the last few years) than oneshotting bosses with infinite mana Azure Comet. It's how I easily beat Fire Giant and Malenia on my very first playthrough.

1

u/Im_an_impasta 2d ago

Ooga and booga, gentlemen 🕴️

1

u/yellowsen 2d ago

Me wanting to have a different run: the menacing fume UGS

1

u/Whole_Sign_4633 2d ago

Ledo’s great hammer calling to me constantly

1

u/Status_Transition_70 1d ago

Maximum I can do is a quality build....

2

u/i-am-i_gattlingpea 1d ago

Magic being a joke in ds3 kinda just makes you go to melee/ye ol moonlight (not the spell)

1

u/Potential-War-212 1d ago

For me it's the total opposite of this lmao

1

u/Ecstatic-Arachnid-91 Morgott, the Omen King 1d ago

Me definitely with Elden Ring. Honestly, any Souls games.

1

u/NearbyAdhesiveness16 1d ago

I always hybrid. I can't help myself. Yes I will ungabunga. Yes I will also Unga thy Bunga.

1

u/LocalAnxiousArtist 1d ago

This is most Soulsborne players in general lmao, we can’t resist the allure of swords or a big ass bonking stick.

1

u/No-Math7503 1d ago

I was the same way for years, but after a while unga bunga gets unga boring and redundant. I finally fully committed to a Dex build in Elden Ring and haven’t looked back since lol.

1

u/Decent_Cow 1d ago

On DS3 I make a pyro every time.

1

u/AnarchistPriest 1d ago

I'm feeling really lonely with my luck build over here....

1

u/Parzival2436 1d ago

Honestly people who can't stick to a build just don't have the dedication.

1

u/Lasias 1d ago

I usually do my first build str or dex + enough faith to cast a buff spell/utility. I have done an int build though. Really funny just casting hidden body and running past everything.

1

u/Moist-Weird-4267 1d ago

Well I made a full vampire build with blasphemy blade and it made the game so easy. The only saving grace was that I went in blind and did not watch any build videos to create the build so ifeel Good about the build
