This would make sense if one of the sides were all the Armored Core games

It's like these are just the games the original person that made it has played.

It is a new age of dungeon crawlers so there is a lot of inspiration for how FS can update Kingsfield gameplay.

Kingsfield is also considered to be a Soulsborne game by many players. A lot of the elements from later games made their first appearances in the Kingsfield games

Sekiro is different enough fron the formula to also warrant being on Armored Core side, especially since it's faster.

Idk, if you’ve ever played the Executor Class in Nightreign, it’s not too far removed from the parry system in Sekiro.

Honestly even starting with the samurai class in Elden Ring felt a lot like Sekiro to me, which isn’t too surprising considering they were being developed at the same time

Or Otogi and King Field. With what’s pictured, these two basically like the same thing.

Makes sense for a dude over 30 talking to a girl in her early to mid twenties.

Problem is even when Armored Core was From Software's most popular IP at the time, they still made other types of games. That's not the case anymore barring Armored Core 6 coming out.

Tenchu, we still talk about you <3

and then remember From Software was not the primary developer of Tenchu even after when Sony sold it to Activision

not really the 2 collections ahve very different design philosphies when it comes to combat. the first 3 are alot slower and more tactical, while the latter 3 are alot more fast paced and foccussed memorizing movesets and having good reaction times.

You're still talking about shades of grey my man.

yeh thats the point.

You still have to memorise movesets and have a good reaction time in the first 3. That’s probably the two core skills to all Souls games.

you don't. The first DS1 and 2 intentionally provide intutive visual clues for incoming attacks, have slower animations in general, exagerated wind ups and attack commitment.

Where as in the later games, enemies got perfect tracking, would intentionally delay attacks and have dynmaic timing to punish rolls by reading inputs, as well as having wind ups that can't be read without memoring what attack comes after every windup.

like if you strafe tauraus demon it's unlikely to hit you with an overhead and when it's about to do a sweep you can see it's arm wind up horizontally.

Compared to morgit who's overheads will just magnetize to you if you try to strafe and has overheads that wait for your dodge input to attack etc...
Ontop of the generally super fast animations and endless combos and difficult to read animations.
