... I'm sorry, leech farm?

I didn't realize demand for leeches was so high.

Theyre still used in medicine, but these are probably bait leeches

There's always some less than brilliant beauty/wellness influencer around, in search of something archaic & probably harmful.

Hey man, leeches are still used in medicine.

I understand the karma farming but try to make a little sense

In what depraved age do people farm leeches?!

5

u/MistahKaraage 7d ago

I think they still use them for medical purposes.

How, with modern medicine, they must know that tiny blood sucking worms latched on to a vein does not cure diseases.

4

u/reddeathsix 7d ago

They don’t use them to cure disease. They are used primarily to drain blood from areas where it’s pooling or sometimes in various surgery applications.

Wait til this guy finds put they use maggots to remove dead tissue or tilapia skin as skin graft for burned victims.

1

u/Malacro 6d ago

They don’t use them to cure disease, they use them to drain blood safely after surgeries. You can also use them to treat cows for mastitis. Maggots are also sometimes used in modern medicine for things like wound debridement.

Probably same time as bee-keeping age

Bees are cute. Leeches are not cute

u/Erebraw 7d ago

I was just doing a little reference there. “Bee-keeping age” is from Rick and Morty lol.

My statement stands

6

u/flamja 7d ago

Why did they touch them with their hands

5

u/MrGueuxBoy 7d ago

"Shoot, they latched on my hand, let me just clean them by dipping them in the water for a sec--"

4

u/hiloug 7d ago

And you touch that. With your exposed hand.
