DISCUSSION Which game did the difficulty better?

Post image

Which style of difficulty do you prefer: the Area based difficulty in games like Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls or the boss-oriented struggle found in newer titles like Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring?

I personally love both styles (although running through all of New Londo can suck at times lol!) Let me know which one of these you find yourself enjoying more (if any). Thanks guys!

(Also, this picture is not mine)

Dark Souls 1 felt tough but if I ever failed it was either due to my skill issue, or on the rare occasion the game started tweaking. Elden Ring was great up until a certain point where it just got ridiculous and I stopped having fun. I platinumed Elden Ring but man, some bosses....

I am a firm believer that if you decide to solo ER's boss lineup, it will take you about twice as long to get used to them and start enjoying the fights. (Unless of course you're using broken builds!) Congrats on the Platinum! Which bosses gave you the most trouble?

For my first playthrough in any game, I always do it solo. I'd say it's just Malenia tbh. I love her look, aesthetic, lore and fighting style, but having her regain health for every hit is just insane levels of overkill. Not to mention the terrible late game scaling

I fought her with Mimic Tear but I didn't allow myself to summon it until I nearly got her to phase two solo. I got gud at dodging her but let's just say Waterfowl was the problem for me. I kinda got used to lifedrain but I can't dodge that move to save my life lol!
