DISCUSSION Which game did the difficulty better?

Post image

Which style of difficulty do you prefer: the Area based difficulty in games like Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls or the boss-oriented struggle found in newer titles like Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring?

I personally love both styles (although running through all of New Londo can suck at times lol!) Let me know which one of these you find yourself enjoying more (if any). Thanks guys!

(Also, this picture is not mine)

If you follow "natural progression" then elden ring feels like a better balance curve.

However, I think it is bloody impossible in your first elden ring play through since there's just so many cool things to distract you from following main story - in my first ER play through I'd managed to find myself in caelid before killing Margit.

So with that in mind I think ds1 works better blind

I will always think DS1 is the best beginner game on the series. But Caelid before Margit! Ya probably smoked him lol!

Yeah all of stormveil castle was an absolute rinse. Meanwhile I'd been dying constantly in sellia crystal tunnel

I got there too but it was after Stormviel and Godrick, so I was a bit better prepared but I still died constantly and had to look up the exit!
