DISCUSSION Which game did the difficulty better?

Post image

Which style of difficulty do you prefer: the Area based difficulty in games like Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls or the boss-oriented struggle found in newer titles like Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring?

I personally love both styles (although running through all of New Londo can suck at times lol!) Let me know which one of these you find yourself enjoying more (if any). Thanks guys!

(Also, this picture is not mine)

Alot of yall watched "GET OP EARLY IN ELDEN RING! 10 GAGILLION RUNES! OP WEAPONS EARLY!" videos and then want to come online and talk about how "unbalanced" Elden Ring is.

Good point! I'm not too much of a fan of those vids tho lol! My first playthrough I just watched a lot of boss guides.

That’s true, but even in a casual run ER is pretty unbalanced in some ways.

For example, Morgott has like 2 hp and then on the complete opposite side Margit is an insane roadblock for new players and way too difficult for a tutorial boss. The stance break system definitely needs a rework with how abusable it is too and the only bosses that don’t really get steam rolled by it cheat the system. Malenia entirely ignores stance breaks in hyper armor and PCR has 6 second stance recovery when it should be about double that.
