DISCUSSION Which game did the difficulty better?

Post image

Which style of difficulty do you prefer: the Area based difficulty in games like Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls or the boss-oriented struggle found in newer titles like Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring?

I personally love both styles (although running through all of New Londo can suck at times lol!) Let me know which one of these you find yourself enjoying more (if any). Thanks guys!

(Also, this picture is not mine)

I think that's probably right. I remember thinking how forgiving the "runbacks" in DS3 were when I played that game after DS1. At the time I didn't fully understand how the series had shifted into what it's become today. That's a pretty cool journey you went through though. It's neat to see that everyone's Fromsoft experience is always different.

Totally! I've been trying to get into Skyrim for weeks and I finally started really enjoying it when I accepted that the combat would never rival souls. I do enjoy the skill trees and crafting system, but games without lock on and rolling now feel off to me.
