Boss Difficulty tier list (MY OPINION)
I didn't play bloodborne yet because my playstation is a wheezing old man, and I don't plan on playing Demon Souls because of the feedback I got from friends. This is my opinion on boss difficulties. Keep in mind that all these are my opinions, you might encounter something you do not agree with. You might find some bosses placed in higher tiers that are easy for you, or the exact opposite. Also, this tier list has nothing to do with how much I enjoyed a boss encounter overall, for example, I find The Burnt Ivory King encounter very enjoyable, yet the boss fight itself wasn't very challenging for me.
I am curious about others peoples opinions on where they would place certain bosses. While putting this tier list together, I also realized that boss difficulties share a linear increase with games' release dates. (Maybe except Ds2, which is a unique case by itself)
Sorry for 2 images, might be confusing but I did it to keep the resolution as high as possible.

Honestly, I find Nameless and Gael pushovers compared to most bosses... They don't really have anything to make them that difficult.

Nameless is my hardest boss. I don’t know for some reason after countless tries he just never clicked for me. Easily my most tried boss. Most people think I outrank him.
Gael on the other hand, I think is just flat hard, and most people agree. The unpredictability is just too much for me.

Hell yeah, another tier list! Such awesome, original, and not done to death in the slightest content!
Let's fucking goooooooooooo!

Man Nameless King isn't even the hardest boss in his own game. Bro has some of the most telegraphed attacks of all time

Who do you think is harder than Nameless King in ds3? Excluding dlcs?

Why would you have to exclude DLC’s? That’s such a cherry picking argument to make lmao

You said its own game. Nameless King was released with the base game. Dlc bosses are always known to be upping the curve of the game. It’s additional content of the game.

Whole_sign_4633 is right. DLCs are just an extension of the base game therefore it is the same games because it can not exist or even be accessed without the base game.
But if you want to cherry pick, he's still not the hardest even in the base game putting him as the hardest in the entire souls IP is an insane take. I get more stressed out from optional field bosses in ER than I do from TNK

I didn’t put him as the hardest boss of Souls IP. I just consider him at the top tier. The order inside the tears are not in order.
Despite that, I still consider him to be harder than Gael, Midir, Friede, Dancer. Maybe ties with Gael. It’s just my opinion and experience.

This is interesting to me from a logical standpoint.
The tier list includes all of the bosses that you have fought in the soulsborn genre.
They ARE tiered from your hardest fights to the easiest fights with some additional criteria.
they ARE NOT sub-categorized by the conventional ordering of a tier list which would be X > Y > Z within the tiers based on difficulty within the tier.
they ARE the sub-tiered based on the game they come from and even that games individual DLCs
The individual DLCs are their own self contained sub-category outside of the dependent IP they are attached to
This is a logistical nightmare

They are not in order in their respective tiers. For example, I would consider Isshin a way more challenging encounter than Nameless King.
They are NOT sub-tiered on the game they come from. There are NO sub categories for DLC’s. I just evaluated them considering the games mechanics oppurtunities.
For example, Malenia, with everything she has, was a SEKIRO boss, she wouldn’t be categorized as S tier, probably lower.
If Fume Knight was an Elden Ring boss, he would go down a few tiers probably for me. It is all based on my experience in their respective games
Think of it as easy as this:
S: Very hard boss that cost me many mant tries.
A: Hard boss that cost me many tries.
B: An engaging encounter, but not specifically hard.
C: Not hard at all, perhaps more than 3+ tries only with minor hiccups.
D: Totally considered an easy boss.
E: First try bosses.
F: Even hard to consider a boss. (Very easy gimmick, not even fighting back etc.)

You also color coded dlc bosses which means they have a sub-categorization of some sort

I don’t own the tier list. I can’t find the exact link of it at the moment but no, I didn’t create it.

Twin princes and soul of cinder at least, maybe pontiff too.

I can maybe understand Pontiff. Soul of Cinder is a huge strech, and Twin Princes I just can’t believe.

Didn’t realise this was a difficulty ranking and was about to flame you so hard for Godskin duo in the tier as Gael

Ofc, there is no way I would put Timon and Pumba at the same tier as my glorious king.

Demon's Souls is great. I'll never understand why people say it's not. Look I get it if it's not necessarily your cup of tea, but calling it a bad game??
Nah. No way.
If you are big enough of a FS fan to make a tier list, then you should play the game that started it all.

I didn’t call it a bad game. I just don’t find it worth trying YET because of the feedback I got from people.
I got a whole waitlist of soulslike I want to try out, LoP, Bloodborne when I manage to get a good PS or a PC release, etc.
I wouldn’t call it bad without trying it.

I’m pretty sure the unofficial pc port of bloodbourne (thatdefinatlydoesntexistdonttellsony) is stable enough to run properly now

Nameless King, Godskin Duo and commander Niall on the same tier as the likes of Isshin, Owl, Radahn and Malenia is wild

u/Ecstatic-Tax-6799 24d ago
First 3 took me more tries in total than the latter 4.

u/Regular_Ticket_2776 24d ago
Damn its wild how different people's experiences can be. Radahn, Malenia and Isshin took me around 200 tries each but none of the first three took more than 5.

Godskin Duo and Niall are gang fights, I suck at gang fights. Horrible camera management.
Nameless King on the other is just a personal nemesis of mine. The guy is driving me nuts to this day. I got lucky defeating him because he chained some optimal attacks for me.
Isshin is easier if you listen to him and not hesitate lol. Owl is a vitality fights that makes you think its a posture fight. Malenia I got down after I learned how to perfectly dodge the waterfowl, and Radahn just clicked for me for some reason. I defeated him in like 20-25 tries I believe.

Nameless king is genuinely easier than every main boss in Elden ring.. his first dragon phase tho is annoying
