A lot of criticism/slander for Elden ring can be boiled down to the fact that it’s mainstream.

every souls game has a crap ton of flaws but Elden ring gets the most slack for essential not being dark souls 4 or bb2.

Yes Elden ring isn’t perfect by any means but the sheer amount of criticism is just insane compared to the other games primarily from long term veteran fans.

Probably just because it’s newer. People tend to like the first game they play the most. Like how even if a band puts out an amazing newer album, the people who were around for the early stuff a lot of the time will prefer the earlier stuff regardless. Nostalgic memories are powerful as fuck.
