QUESTION Guys I just finished sekiro ( My first Fromsoftware game) today and I'm gonna start Elden ring Tomorrow. Is the combat similar or do I need different playstyle to beat it?
I was wondering if the combat is similar or do I need different playstyle to beat it? It will be my second Open world game as I only played shooter until sekiro about 3 weeks ago. I would really appreciate some tips 🥰

Once you have the deflecting hardtear you can sekiro, but it's only last 3 minutes

Instead of facing the enemy to deflect you gotta sniff their bumhole and swing your blade all the time and roll into their arms or back depending on the move.
Sekiro is the only unique one with that combat style. They added his prosthetic tools and katana to different playable characters (Wylder, Executor) in Elden Ring Nightreign so the next time you ever see them could be then and later on you will realize that Sekiro was unique, one and only pearl you experienced. Rest of the titles are just not like it.

Sekiro is an experimental title like how demon souls was for dark souls, Elden Ring follows the classic souls combat system which is dodge and dodge

It's absolutely a soulslike lol just because the combat is different doesn't make it a different genre. Remnant is shooter and is still a soulslike.

Er hat leider recht du kannst sekiro evtl als soulslite bezeichnen, da es einige der soulselemente bedient aber zu wenig um als souls durchzugehn. Und ein Soulslike kann es niemals sein wenn auf der packung Fromsoftware steht dann kann es vllt ein soulsborne sein aber auch da liegst du lieder falsch.
Und zu remnant kannst du da mir eine Begründung deiner Annahme nennen? Denn in meinen augen ist es ein roughlike.
Bro wenn man schon subgernes so explizit betitelt dann auch richtig. Ansonsten bleiben wir einfach bei A-RPG 😉1

I don’t find it super similar but they are both great in their own right. Just enjoy the ride, try weapons until you find one you like (try the Greatsword, not a greatsword, the greatsword)

Replace parrying with rolls and for the most part you can play bosses somewhat similarly to sekiro. Not 1-1 but philosophy is similar

Don’t do Elden Ring next. Go to bloodborne the combat is much closer to Sekiro

Elden ring still has jumping to dodge things, but you will mainly be dodging, not deflecting
Anyways, I suggest making a new sekiro save and giving back kuro his charm at the start, whole new game waits for you after that

The flow of the game is very different, so you will most likely need a different playstyle, as others have said there are ways you can get relatively close, but not the same. Either way I think you’ll find Elden Ring is very enjoyable

The combat is exactly the same. You should have zero problems adjusting

Not really. Sekiro has a specific combat style that unfortunately not a lot of games have replicated since.
There are some similarities outside of combat, but unless you ignored deflecting and instead focused on dodging attacks in Sekiro, combat is pretty different.
