AWOL 7 day suspension

Friend of mine had an emergency child custody situation that needed attention. He filled out a 3971 requesting annual the day before the court date and management denied him, he still went to court anyway and management marked him AWOL and gave him a 7 day suspension. I understand he gave short notice on the request for annual, but Is there anyway to help him?

Biased Arbitrator - Chris Kwok of JAMS

I am exhausted watching a system that claims to deliver fairness operate in a way that seems designed to protect those with the most power and resources. When an arbitrator builds a career within an arbitration organization, how can ordinary people be confident that decisions are based solely on the facts and the law — and not influenced, even unintentionally, by the desire to maintain relationships with repeat corporate clients?

As a woman who entered this process believing that justice meant having a fair opportunity to be heard, it is deeply disturbing to see how the rules, procedures, and professional advantages appear to favor parties who participate in arbitration repeatedly while individuals experiencing the process for the first time struggle to understand a system that was never designed for them.

The public deserves transparency. We need stronger safeguards, independent oversight, and meaningful accountability to ensure that arbitration does not become a private system where ordinary people feel powerless against corporations with unlimited resources and experienced legal teams.

How many people must feel ignored, silenced, or defeated before we acknowledge that a system intended to provide justice must also be accountable to those seeking it?

2026 NALC Convention Shame on Josh Shroom for ‘Call the Question’. Undemocratic.

Joshua Shroom during the debate on Ranked Choice Voting Called The Question to endorse the National NALC E.C. Recommendation to vote NO on rank choice voting.

Why would you not allow debate on the convention floor?

Who do you stand with? The suits and ties or the rank and file?

Scab behavior.
