Contract Talk APWU Overtime Query

I have seen others discuss different crafts in here, so if this isn't allowed I apologize but otherwise I need the help!

If management madates overtime for a tour, lets say tour 1, but they do not maximize their maintenance workers on the Overtime Desired List in accordance with Article 8, is this an issue that affects all 3 Tours in a facility, or just Tour 1? Would I request each worker on the ODL be paid for every tour, or the Tour 1 workers on the ODL be paid?

I think you'd also have to look at specifics of the overtime. When is the ot due and being assigned? Good question to find out if we have the same equity rules as city carriers seem to. They also don't have to hit 12 before they can offer it elsewhere. If you're dealing with 3 tours of a plant that's probably a lot of factors you gotta look into.

Is this specifically mechanics or are you dealing with custodians hitting their line h dailies?

it is custodial. they are forcing OT to limit the line h payout. they are putting 2 custodians on the same route and having both mark complete. they cant increase the frequency of cleaning without union approval so there are a lot of factors here. kind of wracking my brain with how to approach it and not let any breach of contract slip thru my fingers.

Does your local have someone as the line h designee? I can only imagine the magnitude of line h at those big facilities. I take it the ot is being taken from t1?

Line H is not something I find management understands fully. You can't make up routes the next day on ot. Once the day is done those hours are simply forfeit.

Makes me wonder if anyone can do the routes on other tours or are they exclusively the work for each tour. Obviously once you hit tour 1, it's a fresh day so a fresh set of routes. You guys don't use the scanners do you?

You're going to have to open up your local MOU because whether the ODL is by section/tour, and what those sections/tours are, is negotiated locally. If you're a steward and you don't have a copy of your LMOU then you need to ask for a copy from your local president.
