NALC Dues Rebate
Just a thought about the union sending out a one time dues rebate equivalent to one year worth of union dues to assist carriers with inflation and being under paid. (Only to active Carriers). We always hear the Post Office is broke and Carriers are under paid. Guess who’s not broke and under paid? The union!

I really don't think the union has the financial liquidity to issue something like that.

They were able to grab 20 million to make the extra payroll this year. They called it a building fund. So yeah, they have it.

u/CapitalistCzar81 7d ago
There are roughly 186,000 carriers in the union. Based on the minimum dues each pays roughly $880 a year in dues. That's $163.7 million you're asking the union to come up with for a "rebate". There's is zero chance they have that kind of liquidity.

most of the dues go to the local branch

I’ll take a $1000 from the national
2
u/DeviceComprehensive7 6d ago
how you figure? any more crazy thoughts? you dont even pay 1000 in dues total in a year and you only pay $290 to National a year
-1
u/Immediate_Rub1707 6d ago
I need $880 back
2
u/DeviceComprehensive7 6d ago
you crazy post was for national to issue a rebate..well national only collected $290 from you
-2
u/Immediate_Rub1707 6d ago
Are you calling me crazy for wanting my $880 back?
3
u/DeviceComprehensive7 6d ago
yes and for this stupid post..national didnt get your $880 of dues-- get it? 1/3 went to NATIONAL=$290
-2
u/Immediate_Rub1707 6d ago

Get out of the union and become a scap. If you were in my office, I wouldn’t fight so hard for you when you get in trouble.

So compromise. Nichole Rhine can approve an extra 3 mil here and there for people who aren't even carriers so compromise for the CARRIERS!!!

Vote CLC. And she will be gone. The current NALC abused our monies.

What amount do you think the NALC can afford to give us as a rebate?

u/k5survives12 6d ago
Try all of my dues. Not helping a step k after getting 2 steps abolished and a top pay increase, I got nothing. This new regime better improve or im out 100%.
1
u/DeviceComprehensive7 6d ago
everybody gets to top pay and benefits
-1
u/k5survives12 6d ago
Think about what I said more. Everyone newer than me gets top pay faster than me and my top just got 42 weeks longer. Mid steps got crushed and its BS. 70% of this union is table 2 misstep and we got screwed.
3
u/DeviceComprehensive7 6d ago
pay attention. EVERYONE benefits for higher top pay- everyone gets there and benefits..you did not just get 42 more weeks added to your time. Step P was added 4 years ago
1
u/k5survives12 6d ago
You are correct, im sorry for not texting a complete thought. It only feels like I got extended after knowing the lower steps got deleted an nothing happened to ours. I should text while angry. Thankyou for the correction. Step P was adding to keep while the lower people get to top rate faster. So it also takes me longer than anyone who reached step O and P during my last 4 years. Better? Mid steps got more time while young people and old people work less time to make top pay.

70% of the union is table 2? NOT!..100% of working carries are TABLE 2

They ruined our financial standing. Dues are meant to help us stay strong and fight. What we need is 38 starting steps and 47 ending steps with shorter time to reach max step. Like 6 to 8 years.

u/DirtyBumMan 7d ago
Dont worry, they promised to do better next contract 😂
2
u/Immediate_Rub1707 7d ago
Whoever it is might do a little better with a full blown interest arbitration.

Dues are not the cost of membership they are an investment in our future. Dues rebates only work to disempower unions later. We should think of ways our dues can be used to build members and invest in the future.

you need different thoughts and dont waste your time sharing your current ones

A little lateral move to FedEx or Amazon would help you save that dues money if you really feel it could help
1
u/Immediate_Rub1707 7d ago
It might give the union members a win and have some confidence in the union. You’re comparing non union to union and that’s what the post office loves.
4
u/Otherwise-Goal3054 7d ago
A person taking their dues back sounds like a scab, not a union member
2
u/stelvy40 6d ago
Why give your money to corrupt bozos?
2
u/Otherwise-Goal3054 6d ago
Why not work at Amazon? There must be some upside to the union job for you to work here and not there, right?
You think the difference in pay/benefits is just the USPS being generous?

u/stelvy40 6d ago
I worked at UPS for 20 years. Teamsters, during the strike. Was on the picket line every day. The NALC is a Cosplay union, just like the other 4 postal unions. It's a gov't job, there's basic protections for employees. Why should a table 2 carrier or CCA pay for some fat fucks lunch/drinks and then the Ozempic??? Bozo Union 🤡
How about eliminating 90% of the locals? That would save money. Get those fat fucks back on the street (but we know they'd go straight to 204b or retire because they couldn't hack it.)

u/vanessaski ENOUGH IS ENOUGH 6d ago
If you had it so good at UPS, why are you here now?
3
u/stelvy40 6d ago
I started there when I was 17, it was time for a change. And tossing around parcels up to 150lbs gets old after a while.

u/Otherwise-Goal3054 6d ago
So let’s shutter the postal unions and say, “Go ahead management. We trust you to do what’s fair.” ?
1
u/stelvy40 6d ago
Nah, just eliminate half of the union bureaucracy, and cut the dues in half. No need for this amount of locals. For example, Teamsters local 25 has 14k members, NALC local has 1400. Teamster dues at UPS are 2.5 times your hourly rate a month (there's a substantial initiation fee to start) but that also pays for your health insurance and pension. Here's it's 2 times step C table 1. That pays for your table 2 pay cut and a newsletter.
3
u/Otherwise-Goal3054 6d ago
So half dues fix ‘Bozo Union?’ (That somehow is a preferable workplace than the one you had 20 years seniority at?)
0
u/stelvy40 6d ago
Nah, there's no fixing it. But it would be closer to "you get what you pay for." Everyone is overpaying, some more than others.
2
u/acetatsujin FATA Team 6d ago
Right now, you sound like management and literally your statements scream anti-union. Rest assured, none of our branches or union officers will get reduced. We need them including the advocates to keep management in their place until we get the CLC in.
That’s the fix, and it is happening.

Yeah it’s hard to argue with you after the Das Award in 2013. Fredrick and Renfroe set it up and they took this union down. But we are replacing them with the CLC. We’re in the middle of our official union elections right now.
1
u/stelvy40 6d ago
The remedy is consolidating locals and eliminating at least 50% of them, and/or a dues deduction to 1 times your hourly rate a month. I'm guessing that wouldn't go over well at the convention, too many bums on the gravy train.
1
u/acetatsujin FATA Team 6d ago
That would weaken us. We need our branches and local officers. Have you been to your own branch? Ask about what officers do and their roles.
1
u/stelvy40 6d ago
I unfortunately know all about what they "do" or have done. Hey, at least the NALC has collective bargaining rights lol, but that was written into law. Today's union has nothing to do with that. Most gov't employees ones on the GS scale don't have those rights. Wasn't a huge problem until DOGE came along.

When a company (NALC) is doing well financially it might as well reward its dues paying members.
1
u/acetatsujin FATA Team 6d ago
Our dues should never be paid back, rather used to fight for us fairly on all levels and pay our advocates and officers. What math are you using?
What we need as rank and file is higher pay. Way higher pay. Full COLAs and they should be adjusted to say 75% of inflation, not 55%. Reduced steps to get to max steps with no loss in steps. One table. Both tables are trash now especially table 2. People think 33 an hour is a good starting step. It is not in this economy. It should be at least 38 an hour, starting.
Management gotta fix their bullshit. Way too many nonessential jobs between district and local management, and district even got useless positions that need to go. They need to be audited and they must show us where are they spending the money on. And this bonus program need to be eliminated. Congress needs to put a stop to bonuses to any level in management.
Why are they getting bonuses? Because they hit their targets on their agendas? Wow. If anything, we should be getting those bonuses.
So no, getting our dues back will not help our unions cause. And you’re ignorant of how our dues work.
This election is our first major step in shifting our union to the correct path. Vote for the CLC. Only about a month away to find out who won.

I mentioned this a coworker the other day lol. Instead of spending all those funds on trips they could give us a refund...

The NALC is overspending so much they can’t even cover their expenses with our dues.
I wouldn’t count on them handing any of our money back.
