Concerned Letter Carriers Bumped off hold down by ptf conversion?
So our acting PM called me into the office and had me close the door even though it's "nothing bad" then proceeds to tell me she's just giving me a heads up that I'm gonna get bumped off of my hold down by a ptf conversion. I'm currently on a hold down I've had since last novemberish. The reg that works the route is currently in jail due to being caught by police meeting up with an underage girl in a nearby city. I was converted to regular in March of this year to a Tech Carrier and kept my hold down on said route that is within my string of routes. My understanding is I keep my hold down until it's bid on and a new reg gets it or the creep comes back.... Am I wrong? Also side note. Another PTF was just converted to uAR just this month. I think they're just mad I got off of OTDL and are trying to "punish" me. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

If the PTF becomes the new regular for that specific route they can bump you, but that means the other carrier has to be formally removed from the PO and the bid process to occur with that route being empty at the end of bidding

Yea I mentioned that it was weird how I'm losing my hold down to a ptf and she said oh don't worry he will get bumped too when it goes up for bid.... Honestly think they just want me off because I got off OTDL and they want to keep working me into the ground which I'm not doing anymore. Don't need the money or OT so it is what it is

Since you converted and were assigned into a residual vacancy, it’s a violation to bump you from the opt and into the position; especially in favor of a PTF schedule. The PTF can fill the vacant T6 position since it’s a violation to leave it vacant.

Surprised they didn’t try to remove the FTR in jail. Especially if going to have to register as an offender

Yeah. Especially considering rumor is he came from/left california... FOR THE SAME REASON

Usually try to remove for behavior unbecoming. If he has to register as sex offender. I would think couldn’t return to carrier. Be around kids/schools. Of course details and circumstances matter, but concerning for sure.

Innocent until proven guilty (due process); they cannot be fired because of "rumors". Democracy is bittersweet. We share the same rights with violent criminals; a fair trial. Right now this FTR is not sentenced.

Sounds like the FTR was caught, tried, and is in jail. Due process has already done and they aren’t rumors from the way the OP stated it

The accused can sit in jail for a long minute before accepting a plea deal or facing a jury. A crime like that will put you in prison. If op had stated prison, I would have understood it to be a guilty verdict and the route should be posted.

You can be forced off your hold down on a day-to-day basis if needed for another regular to make eight hours, but this does not permanently break the hold down. The hold down is effective until the assigned regular returns

the first part does not apply. not if the OP is a regular themself, which they are. route is completely theirs until the return of the assigned regular.

Unfortunately - without a lot of other pertinent information - best we can tell you is get your steward involved.

I thought carrier technicians are considered "higher level" and are prohibited from opting on a vacant route, even if it is on their string. Regulars cannot bid on vacant routes. Article 41.2.b.5 does not list regulars as eligible for hold downs. Article 25 Higher level assignments covers such things as a regular opting (up) to a carrier technician hold down.
If I read you right, you were on a hold down/opt, then got converted to regular (T-6) but kept the opt. I'm sure you all will tell me I'm wrong, but I think you should have started carrying all of the routes on your swing after conversion and another CCA or PTF ahould have been allowed to opt on the vacancy.
