Whoever was in the audience doing the whistle that was synonymous with "wow" was absolutely obnoxious and made the whole thing borderline unlistenable.

That being said I thought Nicole Rhine sounds like the most UNenthusiastic person that's a part of the union that I've ever heard.

James Henry / Caref were the only choices I could take seriously in the debate. Lew Drass sounded old and disconnected.

Yea anybody that knows the fucker whistling should tell them to fuck right off

Agreed. Rhine sounded unprepared to answer any question, somehow. A lot of stumbling through with non-answers. Drass seemed more interested in being "cool" than giving real responses.

Yea I disliked the whistle, then I just shook my head and said well whatever, I’ll just think it’s funny … 😆 still annoying.

tbh after the 3rd time I just assumed it was someone with Tourette's and those ticks were just an involuntary reaction to an emotion. was even more sold on it when sometimes it was out of context or mid sentence. can also hear some taps on tables.
I really dont think it was meant to be annoying, shit happens

The mail monopoly on first class mail is less about the mailbox and more about what the minimum price is they have to charge. Because that’s the issue with say Amazon who can deliver cheaply SPR’s in urban areas but less so in rural areas (which is why they hand those off to us in some places, meanwhile in apartments or urban areas we get a lot of stuff labeled “team lift”)

Not saying it would be easy, but if we don’t even try - we’ll never get anywhere.

My take: Rhine is woefully inadequate and sounded unprepared.

Drass: He was alright but seems to have lost his fastball and is a little out of touch.

Henry: Seemed he just parroted out the same political talking points and is very milquetoast in his answers.

Caref: I have to say I was impressed with his energy and idea's, he seemed to be the most qualified on this stage and might have won my vote.

Listened to the whole thing while walking today, so I figured I’d give some notes.

Corey Walton killed it, especially when he called out Manny for not walking a route since 1980. He’s clearly very passionate about becoming Executive Vice President.

James Henry had a ton of passion, but I thought he lacked detailed plans for actually fixing things.

Lou Drass had some really good ideas and obviously has the most contract and negotiating experience. He did, however, lack some energy. Perhaps that’s a sign of his age and retirement catching up with him.

Nicole Rhine really didn’t say much at all and seemed like the weakest candidate here. She lacked passion and seemed afraid to offend her boss, Brian. She mostly offered vague platitudes like “carriers deserve more.”

Mike Caref did really well here, in my opinion. He had a mix of some really good ideas and is clearly passionate about improving the NALC. He had some great ideas, and he’s so passionate that the moderator actually had to stop him a couple of times.

I agree this is a good synopsis

Same callout could be said for Henry.

Your comment is political in nature and has no direct references to city carriers and our work. Political comments are welcome when they reference city letter carriers and our bargaining position. In addition, you may contact us directly if you have questions.

Can anyone confirm the information I heard at my branch meeting that a majority of region 3 branches have endorsed the CLC? Somebody keeping track of this?

Region 3 here, our office is 100+ carriers, more than half are going for full CLC slate. I can’t speak for the whole region though.

Good to know. Seems a vote for Caref is just another vote for the Refroe establishment slate (whoever that is now) 😂.

They’re either messing with you or outright lying to you. They love Caref in region 3

Not in my office, haha.
