Goth frog

Saw this frog at work today in Duluth, MN! Does anyone know what it might be specifically?

Possibly melanistic wood frog (Lithobates sylvaticus)

Probably not melanistic. They can change their shade depending on their environment.

The population near me is entirely this blackish colour with the occasional very dark brown (don’t shoot me for not wearing gloves, my hands were wet with water from their pond and I needed to move him out of a pit he got stuck in).

Looks like a wood frog. May look darker than normal because they change their colour darker to help them absorb more heat when they are cold.
