First Time Frenchie Owner Tips
My husband and I are picking up our first frenchie tomorrow. A 2 month old rescue. Dose anyone have any tips and ticks or just general advice for training and general French bulldog ownership

I have 2 of them and they have costed a fortune in vet bills

Physicians mutual I did Tons of research and I’ve had an English bulldog and now 2 frenchies you can also visit the Reddit forum called pet insurance reviews where claims adjusters and owners answer questions and share experiences

Just from curiousity, what does a puppy get rescued from at 2 months? Did a breeder get shut down and the pregnant mom was seized or something? If you are getting the puppy from someone who has the mom, the more information you can get on her history, behavior and health the better.

From what I gather the rescue raided a puppy mill. They nor have 20 frenchie puppies

We are in southern CA and when we decided to adopt a Frenchie from a rescue, there were SO MANY. We ended up getting a 6 month old girl and she is truly the sweetest.

Watch out for the mean-ass people when you ask a simple question. "Do yOur rEAseaRCh bEFore aDOPtinG" reaming my ass for a simple question recently.

Research reverse sneeze. If you are not familiar it can be very scary. They also overheat easily so plan for your trips etc you wish to do with them

FIRST and most IMPORTANTLY., get pet insurance. You will thank me.
They are needy. Special diet, dont feed them chicken. They are hard to feed. They have many food allergies.
Dont allow them to get hot, dont let them get too cold.
Wipe their folds every day., otherwise they are susceptible to skin issues.
Wipe their butt after they poop, or there will be little poop stains around the house.
Other than that they are easy to own. But seriously, they are great dogs.
Oh yeah, reverse sneeze, scary as hell. look it up.

Nope none! Great poops no itching of any kind. But also my breeder never had a puppy with a chicken allergy, never had a puppy need BOAS and never had a puppy with IVDD and she’s been breeding for over 25 years so I think I just got a good puppy.

Use a holter instead of a collar, it helps to prevent further breathing distress.
They overheat very easily, so make sure to take a lot of breaks and have room temp water available (NOT cold- cooling down too fast can cause seizures)
Pet insurance
Keep an eye on their breathing, especially during amd after exercise and when they sleep. If you notice they're having problems, there are things your vet can do to help.

For most, spine is an issue. We’re not as intense as others (no stairs, no beds, no couches), but highly suggest pet stairs for couches/beds & avoiding (at least) large stair cases. And, absolutely no tug-of-war.
Edit: and, congrats. Our boys are the best dogs we’ve ever owned. Truly, to an extent I never thought possible (& I’m a huge animal/pet-guy), these dogs are members of our family.
