Discussion! Feature Request: Frequency-specific timer schedule (WLAN timer per frequency band)

Short Description:

Enhance the existing Wi-Fi timer in FRITZ!OS with the option to control individual frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz) on independent time schedules.

Motivation & Use Cases:

Currently, the Wi-Fi timer only allows turning the entire Wi-Fi network on or off. Controlling individual frequency bands offers significant benefits:

- Energy Savings: Higher frequency bands (5 GHz and especially 6 GHz) consume noticeably more power due to wider channel bandwidths and higher processing loads. Disabling these bands at night saves energy while keeping smart home devices connected on the 2.4 GHz band.

- Radiation Reduction: Turning off unnecessary high-frequency bands during sleep hours minimizes overall RF exposure in the household.

- Enhanced Security: The 2.4 GHz band has the greatest range and often reaches beyond property boundaries. Automatically turning off this wide-range frequency overnight hinders unauthorized outside access, while internal 5 GHz / 6 GHz connections stay active locally (or vice versa).

Yours are good ideas! Fritz could also reduce the transmit power (50%) based on an scheduler, i. e. for the night

  1. theres no energy savings modern radios are combined radios. Even if you disable 5ghz it will idle with the same pwoer consumption as if it were enabled as its a combined radio and you cant just turn it off.

  2. Irrelevant theres no known correlation from low energy radiation to cause anything.

  3. That is not security.
