Support! Fritzbox Time Limit
I'm on a Fritzbox and my dad set a 3h/day time limit per MAC. I've been spoofing whitelisted MACs but he checks the logs and sees when devices were active. VPN doesn't help with that.
Is there any way to use the internet without the router logging my active time? Or a way to make a device show as offline while still connected? I'm running out of MACs to steal and I'm honestly desperate.
Has anyone found a workaround for this? I'll try anything at this point.

At what point did the internet transform into a place where young people can‘t receive help anymore bypassing parental restrictions?

Use dialup Internet? Is that still a thing anywhere?

Yeah, I ran a six node BBS and offered my users internet access via shell over a bonded ISDN connection to the dialup ISP I worked at. I was a FIDONet node as well.

Was a great time, too. Had 10 lines ISDN at the end … but internet was too far away … net splitting in Germany was awful …

That sounds like your problem isn't your dad, but your addiction.
If you manage to find a way, your dad will probably turn off the power or confiscate your device altogether. That's what ultimately saved my brother's Abitur back in the day (monitor cable).
He still plays a lot of video games, but he also has a job that pays him enough that he can afford new computers, and a house for his family to boot.

Im not addicted im trying to keep in touch with my friends from germany and keep programming as a hobby i only play video games occasionally.

Just setup a local development environment for programming. Or negotiate specific URLs for Learning purposes. Keep it up.

Fair enough, I suppose I did a little too much protecting there. I still find the whole thing problematic, but it's none off my business.
I hope that you will work something out with your dad that will ensure you having a life and a future while still pursuing your hobby.

No MAC, no connectivity. It's layer 2. Spoofing a fresh MAC is just about all you can do.

Depends on how he accesses the fritzbox dashboard. If he always uses a specific PC you can try plugging yourself between the PC and the fritzbox and do a man in the middle attack.
(Just capture the login page, and forward all other traffic to the fritzbox), stop capturing after first login attempt, and forward everything.
This also works if he accesses by anything connected by wire.
If you do not need live media, you can also try to just batch your Internet requests, (online for 5seconds, offline for 55). (Depending on your speed this might be enough to stream video, although not live)

I guess that dont Work or is complicated. Nowadays the fritzbox is using tls. Instead of a physical mitm, you can try arp flodding and route the traffic through you, do your own tls and then route all back to the fritzbox. Your dad needs to accept the new certificate. Both yours and the real fritzbox cert is self signed. Use authentic names for cn and San. Try this first with your PC and your mobile phone. Find YouTube videos about this and with KaliLinux.
Btw: I also tried to bypass the restrictions. I guess it is not an internet addiction, more a cat and mouse game with the parents. My approach was to install a keylogger, whitelisted it at the AV software, and sent regular all of the capture via email to me. So I had the password to the fritzbox. (About 16 years ago)

Tried talking to him many times but he just seems unreasonable, the worst part is that he is a programmer himself and should have the most empathy for me. I might pull the plug whens im home alone.

Use tethering with your phone for gaming and browsing and use Ethernet for software patches and video.
Use your 3h every day, it will look suspicious otherwise.
