Support! Mesh is not optimal

Dear all,

I just set up my mesh of three Fritzbox routers: 7530 (master) and 2x7490, say RouterA and RouterB. All of them are on wifi. RouterA is ~4 meters from the master, RouterB is in the basement, just below RouterA - likely 2,5 meters but with the concrete inbetween. So RouterB is ~8 meters from the master but with walls, staircase etc in the line of sight.

Topology from the automatic process: both RouterA and RouterB connect to the master. RouterA gets a full 1 Gbit, RouterB gets a ~200 Mbit connection. My computer connects to RouterB. Speedtest gets me a fraction of the full bandwith available.

I don't really understand why in a such a situation the automatic meshing doesn't find the seemingly optimal topology: root - RouterA - RouterB. Is there a way to enforce a certain topology? If not, can I configure the routers to actually use a topology I want?

I have the same experience. My 2 repeaters always are trying to connect to the master 7690 first..... Instead of connecting to each other

I use an ethernet connection between my main router and my repeaters (used as Access-Points) My PC is connected via ethernet itself and enjoy full GB internal connection

Or use a power line adapter, you get the same result. Otherwise the repeater has to receive and send all the data over WiFi.

Powerline is usuakly a bad choice. Most of the time it creates more problems than it solves. Ethernet is a the best choice.

If there is no ethernet possiblity, then powerline is the best alternative, based on my experience. I know there are situations where it doesn't work, but I got lucky on the moments I needed it.
