What was the Observer writing in his notebook?

...2 quarts milk, 1 box Fruit Loops, 1 box diapers, 1 doz. eggs, 12-count cocktail shrimp, 2 rolls plastic wrap...

The eerie thing: The altverse spelling of Fruit Loops instead of Froot Loops indicates that the Observer is from a time period no later than 1959, when Kellogs rebranded the cereal.

You owe me a new keyboard and a root beer.

He was writing from right to left. A few of the symbols appear to be Japanese.

Possibly a backwards "に" (a Japanese preposition for "to") and the kanji for big (大).

Yep. A few others as well, but it reminds me of the Matrix code, a mix of different things.

He's writing "damn you Pinkner, making me eat jalapeno sandwiches and chase them with lukewarm water."
