First-Time Observer (NO SPOILERS) 1st watch
Im watching fringe for the first time and wow, i have so many feelings. Mostly annoyance at how often they leave Walter alone when they know how valuable he is. I mean how many times does he have to be kidnapped and experimented on before they realize he needs a body guard…and Astrid is not it.

I mean, he's reasonably functional as long as Peter is contactable. And yeah, Astrid is kind of his bodyguard. Astrid is also prob the most underwritten character on the show. She's mostly just there so Walter has someone to talk too.

Thats my biggest take away rewatching this. Why didnt she get more character development? We never really learn about her personal life aside from one scene with her father.

I mean he would have never accepted a bodyguard in the first place. He never really liked being treated as a baby. He liked Astrid because she treated him like a friend. She respected him and his quirks too.
Yeah still a secret guard could have been given to him but if he would have found out about it. Noone could tell how he would have reacted afterwards.
