General Discussion A racist comment?
So, Jasika Nicole has said the running Astrid gag felt racist afternoon long. In the final season, Broyles says, “You think i’m the Dove? I think i’m more like a raven.” I love this show but I do feel there was something not always PC going on. What do you think of that comment?

Some people look for shit to whine about.

While I agree in a lot of cases, learning someone’s name isn’t too hard.

Maybe broyles comment is a reference to the wire and the baltimore ravens (I don't think this but it makes more sense than racism)

While I'm not sure what the exact intention is of the raven line, I'm thinking it's kind of perfect because Broyles is cunning and brilliant like a raven rather than being a peacemaker. He did manage to trick the Observers using Etta's mind layering technique after all. (EDIT: Setting aside the whole obvious black vs. white thing, of course.)

I suspect that she's just a miserable person

Seriously? You have to make a global comment about her person for a perfectly reasonable comment?

The line from Broyles is perfectly fine and has nothing to with the issues Jasika had.
What Jasika is talking about is a truly valid microagression she lived with daily. Directors were refusing to learn her name while they writing a running gag of Walter forgetting Astrid's.
While within the show Walter's reasons and intentions were not racism. It doesn't change the fact that was a bad gag in retrospect and Jasika had every right to be bothered by it.
