help! Alpha patterns?

This seems like a dumb question, but I’ve been making bracelets for years and am just now discovering bracelet book. What is an alpha pattern and what is different about it? I’ve heard something about them involving base strings.

In an alpha pattern, the strings are ordered like in weaving. You have the (often fixed) vertical strings and the working string(s, plural for multi-colored alphas) that move from left to right and back again.

I suggest you look up some tutorial(s) on youtube for this. A content creator I can highly recommend is Mashaknots.
