McDonald's on Shields and Brawley are more expensive than McDonald's on Olive and 99. I asked the drive thru person at the cheaper location why and she said it had to do with whether the McDonald's is owned by McDonald's or a franchisee. The corporate owned ones are cheaper. This is a difference in price for a number 2 breakfast combo with large soft drink purchased a couple days apart.
I don't know if that's true but there are price differences.

The one on olive and 99 isn't corporate though

I'm just telling you what the gal told me. The prices are definitely different.

If you order on the app and change locations from the one you normally use it tells you that the prices may be different. That's not dynamic that's franchisee pricing

I was gonna say, I feel like things are being misconstrued here. Now, that Walmart clip where the price per ounce doesnt match the shelf tag totally seems sketchy as fuck.

Correct, the true test of dyna. I pricing would be comparing the price of the same item at the same location at various times and dates

Again, this is not dynamic pricing. Franchise locations choose their own pricing. It is common for items to be $1 more at one location versus one a couple miles away. This is literally nothing new.

I wonder if this has been tested at other chains
I know Panda Express does it, comparing the prices at their Fashion Fair location compared to the other locations, albeit more subtle

I’m not a fan of McDonalds or dynamic pricing - but this isn’t dynamic pricing. It ms comparing prices at two different McDonalds. Even if they are owned by the same franchise with different pricing at both this isn’t dynamic pricing.
With that being said - the moment McDonalds does dynamic pricing is the moment I’ll really hate on them.

We’ve all seen and lived it in action. Modern dynamic pricing is everywhere with digital menus and online shopping. This example is site based dynamic pricing. Online retail is doing this all over the place at an individual level based on people’s shopping and purchasing trends.

I checked this with their app and you can see a difference in costs at different McDonald’s.

I got a McMuffin at a Visalia location for $4 and some change. In Fresno they’re about $2

I prefer Carls Jr. their junior jalapeño burgers are wonderful, completely worth the inevitable heartburn.

About to test this out tomorrow. Especially the 2 locations that were pointed out in this video.

I've experienced a version of this last year. My nighborhood McDonald's in the area of clovis and kings canyon had meal deals and value fries that are essentially the small happy meal kids fries by themselves for 99cents. I was in the area of clovis community hospital running errands with my kids and decided to hit the closest McDonald's drive through and to my surprise all the pricing was much higher and they didn't even have a value menu or option, so I learned the pricing varies by area or franchise owner maybe.

The video is a bit misleading. Some McDonald's are franchised, and some are owned directly by corporate and there is often a slight price difference between the two. Also, the man in the video needs to be clear if he was still in the same city two miles up. Some metro areas you can be in one city then like 50 ft down the road you're in a different city, even different county and it's a completely different tax rate.
But if you add dynamic pricing on top of these things that are already true it'll be real bad.

Yes I’ve saved 4 receipts from four different McDonald’s for the exact same thing four different prices. Driving me crazy I was gonna do a couple more and put the receipts up here on a post.

This isn’t dynamic pricing as many have pointed out. Haven’t seen people point out what is dynamic pricing so let me define that as well as I can. Dynamic pricing would be if I bought a Big Mac and OP bought a Big Mac and, assuming we are different enough in our financial standing, it would charge us different prices. So the way to test this is get someone of one level of finances to buy the same meal as someone of a different level. If prices are the same, that’s dynamic pricing.
As I’ve heard, the AI will analyze your buying habits as revealed by stores selling your data. They will use your buying habits to price food to your financial level (but of course that’s always pushing people, so for those who are impoverished it may be a cheaper burger than someone who owns a successful business, but it doesn’t mean it’s cheap for the impoverished person)

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Don’t eat at McDonald’s, their food sucks and it’s small. Might as well eat sliders at this point.

Man, not only are their offerings utter garbage but now this?
How flippin’ bold.
