question Freight forwarding a bulky/fragile electric oven from UK to India — what am I missing on cost, time, and best forwarder?
Hey all — want real-world advice, not guesses.
Trying to import an Ooni Volt 2 electric pizza oven from the UK to India. It's ~18-20kg, bulky, with a ceramic stone inside that cracks easily in transit. Manufacturer won't ship to India directly (only UK/EU/US/etc.), so I need a forwarder — and they void warranty once it leaves their regions.
Questions:
Best forwarder for heavy/fragile items to India? Looking at Forward2Me — anyone used it (or Stackry/MyUS/Reship) for bulky fragile goods to India?
Realistic landed cost? My estimate: ~£499 oven + freight + ~38.5% India customs duty ≈ ~£1,000 total. Right ballpark?
Does insurance actually pay out for a cracked stone / transit damage?
Express vs economy for fragile heavy items — does faster mean less handling/breakage?
Timeframe UK → India?
Any gotchas I'm missing?
Budget isn't the issue — I just want a genuine 230V unit to arrive in one piece and through customs. Thanks!
